I av been use to rearing boilers for the past two years now.

I rear from day old, and start selling out from 10days.

The ones I bot last month really dealt me a big blow. Lost 20 from a cartoon due to the weather. ( I am never buying broilers in the month of June again).

Anyways, I rise.

I decide to go for noilers now cos I heard they are stronger than broilers.

I will definitely buy broilers again next month. I don't want to disappoint my customers that will be coming to ask for chicks (kosi, kosi, no good for business).

Will be updating this thread as the days go by.

Problem with NOILERS is cannibalism.... This leads to high mortality.. Be ready to de-beak them after a few weeks which causes mortality if not properly done.

Broilers ain't for rainy season unless you have an ultra secure facility, after I sold my Easter batch I took a break.
Noilers will thrive

Nothing like cannibalism??
Am glad you have procured the day old Noiler already.

After brooding, if you do not de-beak them, you would come back to Nairaland looking for Solution to why they are eating each other...

Mark my words... Experience leaves you with indelible and unpleasant marks or memories.

I've been rearing noilers for 2 years plus now. Started with 10 and multiplied them while also selling several young and mature ones. At a point I had up to 80 of them at various ages. I've not seen any cannibalism.

The problem I'd experienced is bullying of younger ones by bigger ones when its feeding time as I kept them together on semi free range. Meanwhile I'm not even feeding mine well.

2ndly if not well fed and they are on free range where there's limited food in the environment, they'll be very destructive. You won't believe what those things can eat. They've brought down two mature/fruiting banana stands along with the suckers. Destroyed my pineapples. Eat both fruits (ripe or unripe) and leaves . Can you imagine? Not to talk about my bitter leaves. My cocoyam were not spared either. In fact they don't want to see any plant in the compound. They even ate the inner core if pawpaw tree that I cut down. Small ones ate the trunk and bore a hole into it to continue eating.

But cannibalism? I've not seen that. They are not even as aggressive as my local birds/native when it comes to food time.

I had over 2000 in a poultry pen facility (Not free range)...I had a micro scale feed production outlet so there was no issue of poor feeding.

Perhaps they don't cannibalize when on free range .. But for a pen, cannibalism is inevitable. Infact the Noiler hatchery in Ibadan offered to de-beak them for free when I bought that 2000 day old from them.

They are disease resistant
They have high yield

Their only shortcoming is cannibalism.. cross-check with the hatchery and Experienced vet.

Okay, we learn everyday. But my 1st 10 were indoors in a small pen for about 1yr 6months before I culled them and they didn't cannibalize. I will suspect overcrowding then in your 2000. If I may ask, your 2000 noiler birds were they for breeding?

20th July
It's so unfortunate, I lost her today. 😭😭😭

Thought they said they were stronger, even broiler won't die under 1hr like this.
Re: Rearing Noiler.. by safarifarms(m): 3:57pm On Oct 15, 2023
Strong doesn't mean that they are immune to death. I can attest to them being strong. I do raise several small batches of noiler birds hatched on my farm without giving them any medication. I typically give medication only when I observe signs of sickness. I do loose some, but several will grow till maturity without being sick so I didn't have need to give any medication.

How are your birds now?

It was just that one. Sold all of the others a long time ago.

Reared like three sets of broilers since then and sold everything too.
