This exactly how various megacities of the world where formed i.e Tokyo Alot of people in Nigeria don't even know how far onitsha has expanded (the still think it's the tiny ancient 52km community the British made) Others even thinks all igbos are outside there region, while it's just a fraction, our cities are expanding at massive rate! 6 Likes 1 Share

Please I opened this thread for meaningful suggestions, so everyone can share there opinion and post pictures of any of they cites that has merged together to form this large BuiltUp urban area Also special thanks to the Anambra people, that has continued to build markets here and there, which has kept this areas booming and expanding, but now, I think it's time for planing Serious City planning We can't afford to have another Lagos We need something better PO lead the foundation by creating mutiple roads interlinking rural areas to nearest Urban space 6 Likes |

Truth be told the Igboman is the only one holding himself down... Let all Igbos unite and make the rest of Nigeria who despise them look foolish... The greatest resource there is is quality human capital... 13 Likes 1 Share |

As urban centers grow planned urbanisation is sorely needed or the Onicha-Olu axis megacity will be dysfunctiona and car dependent. Urban developers should take note to promote communal middle housing so people can move their extended family towards the city and end the disintegration of african families. Public transit is also very important, no amount of flyover or expanded roads can beat the efficiency of trams and subways! 4 Likes |

Why folks from South west keep trolling us, The don't know what's going on in the east in few decades from now e go clear We would be having a bigger mega city, Owerri is already more developed than ikeja, (in terms of building pattern, planing and road s) and it's going to join the fast merging city in no distant time Below pictures of onitsha Anambra the entrance and gateway to SE 9 Likes

BentizilL2:Lolz you're so inscured, There was no comparison here, if there was then it was with Tokyo not some nonsense places in Nigeria I only point out the fact that, I wouldn't like the onitsha metropolis that's currently getting bigger to be like Lagos (a typical example of learning from our brothers mistake) it was no comparison, I don't see anything in Nigeria yet! Maybe Abuja to an extent 18 Likes |

kettykings: Exactly bro Whosever made Asaba the state capital of Delta did the Igbos a Very good thing, today All onitsha movies are been shot in Asaba and also Asaba is being treated like a special separate City unlike before when it was just an ordinary suburb of onitsha, they are also the one holding the Igbo tag in Delta, (there igboness is very strong) unlike what we have today in Rivers and other part of Delta igboid community (the onitsha central Igbo is there lingual Franca) 17 Likes 1 Share |

Buddha3:Are you from Asaba? Also Do you understand the meaning of metropolis and mega city? (City expanding joining together to form one city, like what we have in onitsha/nnewi, ihala and orlu today) Do I need to remind you that onitsha and Asaba are the same people separated by river Niger, the have the same dialect of Igbo language! Also metropolis doesn't consider region, Istanbul is a mega city that lies both In eroupe and Asia 18 Likes 2 Shares |

Nigercity: You didn't answer my question. By virtue of recognised and gazetted geographical regions and settings, why are you labeling Asaba as part of South East in your permutations? I have no business arguing the differences between a metropolis and a mega city with you. But under what guise are you including Asaba in the South East? Because you have Igbo speaking indigenes in Asaba? Because Asaba and Onitsha are both seperated by just the Niger river? Please, kindly stop perpetuating mischief and misinformation. If you want to achieve the metropolis status by combining cities in the East through infrastructural development, by all means, have at it. But kindly keep Asaba out of your calculations. Don't cause problems that you may be unable to solve tomorrow. 4 Likes 3 Shares |

Buddha3: Check my post I didn't add Asaba because of people like you, despite the fact that onitsha and Asaba are one, (just separated by water) I only mentioned towns that have glued together with onitsha in such a way that when traveling along the owerri-onistha Express way you wouldn't notice the difference between these town as everywhere have been built up, nevertheless someone suggested if Asaba is added it would be more cool and you started feeling inscured, No one labelled Asaba as part of South East Asaba is a proud Igbo City In south South, at a time the wanted to become the 6th south eastern state but some igboid communities in Delta opted out 16 Likes |

Traffic in your so called mega city is so scanty because everyone has run away from the city. Only houses that look like coffin where Igbos that have fled to SW for opportunity come to be buried. For those counting development by building duplex, I laugh. Where are your industries or work for the average person? It’s not by going all over the world to sell drugs so you oppress your village people in December. Yet nothing works in the East. By the way, for hot climate, bungalow is the best. Go around the world and check it, except you don’t have enough land. People who build duplex abd mansions that block the flow of air should pay special fees. 3 Likes 2 Shares |
