In Jos, a man named Samson Onireti has reportedly beaten his wife, Janet Olayanju Onireti, to death simply because she asked for money to buy Bobo, a juice drink for their child's school. The tragic incident occurred in the morning of Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, in the Furaka area of Jos North Local Government Area in Plateau State.

Samson, a metal fabricator, has been known to habitually abuse his wife over both minor and major issues. He is an alcoholic and frequently stays away from home for days without informing his wife about his whereabouts. According to a relative of the deceased who wishes to remain anonymous, trouble started after Janet took their children to school and returned home to prepare for work. An argument broke out regarding the money she had used to buy Bobo for their kids' school, leading to Samson assaulting her as he usually does.
