During my stay at the hotel, my roommate, a middle-aged Nigerian woman, approached me with a plea to help her transport her luggage back to Nigeria. She explained that she couldn't exceed the permitted weight limit. However, prior to her request, I overheard her revealing to someone that she had smuggled pure gold worth ten million naira into Dubai when she first arrived.

Despite her persistence, I firmly refused to comply with her request, but she kept persisting. She told me she loved me because I am just like her and she even shared stories about her daughter. At one point, she handed me her phone to speak with her husband, who also pleaded with me to help. Meanwhile, the agent who had processed my visa had departed for Nigeria to visit his family the day after my arrival. He had arranged for a replacement agent to attend to me during his absence. When the replacement agent came to the hotel to check on me, the woman privately spoke to him. The agent also started urging me to assist the woman with her baggage and emphasizing that it is good to help others.

The woman and the agent were attempting to exploit me because I was young. It became increasingly evident that she was trying to persuade me to transport something illegal when she later offered me $300 just to assist her in carrying the luggage. If she genuinely wanted to transport her load, she could have simply paid for extra luggage.

To my dismay, upon arriving at Dubai airport, the immigration officer flagged something suspicious in my bag, leading to a thorough inspection of all my belongings. My heart raced with anxiety as I suspected the woman had set me up for trouble in order to punish me. However, after careful examination, it turned out that the item causing concern was merely a metal spoon.
