Declan Rice, born 14 January 1999, is an English professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for West Ham United and captains the England national team. Rice was born in England but has paternal Irish grandparents. He formerly represented the Republic of Ireland at both the junior and senior levels until transferring to England in 2019.

With the West Ham United U23, the 23-year-old midfielder began his professional football career in 2016–17. He only played for the U23 team for two seasons, however during those two years he also played for West Ham United’s first team. He has appeared in 218 games for West Ham United in total, and he has 11 goals to his credit.
