Below are Things you should not do as NYSC corp member if you are not from a wealthy home

As many are eager to engage on the selfless service to our fatherland, for a period of one year after completing their year of learning in various courses on their various institutions. These below are things to bear in mind while embarking on this journey/phase of life.

1. Renting an expensive apartment - In many occasions corp members after the three weeks orientation in the camp and being posted to their various Place Of Primary Assignment (PPA), the first thing they do is to rent an apartment that its monthly fee is higher than their NYSC Allowance, as a corp member from the lower or middle class background do not attempt doing that even if the money is available, WHY? Because there are more important challenges unattended than an expensive apartment. Always go for a low cost affordable ones for your class, do not be influence by friends because no one will be there when you go broke.

2. Living above your earnings - Many of us have not experienced total freedom before, therefore NYSC seems to us like a great opportunity to be free and away from home without being monitored/supervised. Apparently we think that life is filled with roses because we have being provided for, during our days in school. Let me bring it to your notice that you are no longer a kid regardless of your age, as long as you have graduated, you are automatically independence, now there are expectations lying around you thereby you are expected to be sending something home once in a while, your younger ones are hoping on you. Dearest while serving always make plans and work on your plans.

3. Do not rely on NYSC Allowance - As a Nigerian corp member do not in any way rely on the monthly Allowance because you will be disappointed at the end. Always engage yourself in a profitable passive income, if you have a handiwork endeavor to practice it, learn a skill if you do not have any, that was why the NYSC management introduce skill acquisition and entrepreneurship department in the orientation camp so that each corp member will engage his/herself in their area of interest. Finally find something doing either a job aside NYSC because after NYSC the real world begins.

4. Competing with the Rich kids fellow corp members - Always know your place, remember where you came from, do not feel intimidated or influenced or moved to live like them because all hands are not equal, doing that you are literally causing emotional instability to yourself. Always be contented and be happy with yourself.

5. Do not Neglect God - Do not play or joke with God, remember he placed you where you are at the moment, he is the only one that can help you in all challenges. After NYSC you really need Jesus to survive because labour market is not for the weak, do not slip from him, hold him with all you have because he never fail.
