A litre of CNG costs 100 naira.

A 60 litre tank is going to cost 6000 naira to get filled.

Driving a 60 litre tank for 170km invariably means, travelling from Kaduna to Abuja is going to empty your tank somewhere around Jere market or a bit further, and you'll have to drive into a gas station for a top-up before progressing to Abuja.

Summarily, you'll spend approximately 8000 naira on gas for the trip. Same distance that ordinarily would require about 25 litres of fuel at 190, which sums up to about 4,900 naira. Then you consider the inconvenience of driving into a gas station while on the journey (that is even if there'll be the possibility you'll find gas stations everywhere on Nigerian express ways during trips).

Oh well!

Well, recalculating with this your updated price implies that 10 litres will amount to 2300 naira, which equals 13,800 naira for a full tank capacity of 60 litres. This amount covers 170km of driving. An additional 20 litres at 4,600 to cover for what's left of the Kaduna to Abuja distance, puts the total gas expenditure for that one trip at 18,400 naira. And you people say this CNG is supposed to be cheaper?

Even if we're to use the current fuel price of 617 for this analysis, it is still relatively cheaper than using CNG. You need approximately 25 litres of fuel to drive from Kaduna to Abuja. That quantity at 617 naira sums up to 15,425 naira. That is 2,975 naira less than you'll spend on CNG.

So what exactly is the profitable advantage CNG has over fuel?

Am I the only one that dislikes this conversion/upgrading stuff?? Like converting a petrol engine to CNG or LPG? Upgrading a 2007 car to a 2035 version? If you want a CNG car, by all means buy a certified CNG car from a manufacturer.

He said a litre would take you 6km so 60litres would be 360km which is more than twice the distance(340km)... That's Kaduna to Abuja and back with extra 20km to drive around

I analysed based on what the heading of this thread specified.

His price template cannot be disputed because prices of these things hardly vary, irrespective of your location. But his stated "net distance" covered by a full tank is subject to tons of disputes, owing to factors like the size of the car, size and capacity of the engine, etc.

Same way I can drive 20 litres of fuel in a Toyota Corolla for 160km, is easily the same way you can drive that same 20 litres of fuel in a Mercedes C300 for just about a 100km.

So, quantity of CNG consumed counterbalanced with the distance covered can always vary, but not necessarily the case with the price.

I trust then, that you understand why I laid seperate analyses using different pricing templates but with the same estimated distance?

N/B: And you're not entirely correct concerning the distance from Kaduna to Abuja. That one way trip is about 190Km. You saying 340Km is equivalent to a trip from Kaduna to Abuja and back, with an extra 20Km to spare, is actually wrong. Double of 190Km is 380Km. And this distance is exactly what you get from Command Junction in Kaduna, to the military checkpoint before you take the right turn off Zuba (I stand corrected), in Abuja. We're not even factoring in whatever 'Km' there is from your home to these aforementioned landmarks.

Nothing bad to change, the world is moving from fossil fuels...why blaming Tinubu for increase, when even a baby knows it's because of removal of subsidy that made fuel price rise.

My brother don't mind them, some people are not honest, after spending 500k for conversion, you now discovered that you will be spending more after trying to run away from the present situation. The volatility of CNG will make it more expensive to use when compared to fuel most especially on cars and generators.
