The students of Federal Polytechnic, Oko ably lead by His Excellency Giant Comr. Nnadi Franklin .C totally shutdown the polytechnic community and campuses today, 25th July, 2023. The civil disobedience (Sit at Home) action as described by the president, Student Union government(SUG) is as a result of management failure to attend to the needs of her students.

The Polytechnic records zero academic activities as students fails to enter the school for academic activities and its likes.
The sit at home protest is fully carried out in the School Main campus and two different campuses of the polytechnic; Atani campus and Ufuma campus respectively.

In an interview with the SUG president giant Comr. Nnadi Franklin .C he said; the civil disobedience (Sit at home) is a means of showing dissatisfaction regarding the excessive payments in the polytechnic and the need to grant students request without further delay.

The Union government have countless time reported and engaged in several dialogue with the management pertaining the challenges students are passing through in the school. This includes high cost of textbooks, excessive bank charges, medical fee, ICT Academy fee, school fee among others.
Among the abovementioned challenges the management only reduce school fee from #40,000 - 45,000 to #33,000 for ND2 & HND2 respectively without saying anything pertaining other student's challenges.

More so, the Chief Justice of the Student Union, Rt. Hon. Jst. Anijekwe Godwin added that the students are seeing what he describe as 'Hell' in this polytechnic. Many student's result have not been printed and this affects the clearance processes of many students especially HND1 students.
Students in departments with optional courses like Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) are yet to a certain the options of course they're studying and exams is fast approaching.

Sequel to the challenges the students are facing, and managements inability to solve the challenges, the students leaders in conjoined hands with the students union government and the students of the institution at large is currently undergoing 'SIT AT HOME' protest till management do the needful.
