I observed that the standard E-Passport of Nigeria has a french interpretation of the BioData page of the holder.
Why is french included? Is french our official language

The reason is that ECOWAS is combination of English and French speaking countries.

French speaking countries include- Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Togo.
English-speaking (Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone)

So English and French is required on the ECOWAS passport.
