Africa becoming ‘a new center of power’ – Putin
Published: 28 Jul 2023 | 09:31 GMT

The era of hegemony of one or several states is fading into the past, the Russian leader has said

Africa’s political and economic power is growing, while formerly dominant world powers are losing their influence, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the Russia-Africa Summit in St. Petersburg on Friday.

“Before our eyes, the African continent is becoming a new center of power. Its political and economic role is growing exponentially. And everyone will have to reckon with this objective reality,”
the president said during a plenary session of the summit.

Putin stressed that while “some manifestations of colonialism, unfortunately, have not been eliminated to this day and are still practiced by the former imperial powers, particularly in the economic, information and humanitarian spheres,” the era of hegemony of one or several states is fading, despite resistance from those seeking to maintain a monopoly on world affairs.

The president also pledged that Russia will continue to expand its interaction with African countries, calling it a natural process. He noted that despite the difficult conditions on global markets, trade between Russia and the continent continues to grow, and is far from reaching its limit.

Meanwhile, in international politics, the positions of Russia and African states on many key issues are very close or completely coincide, Putin noted, stating that all sides want to build a more just architecture for the global order, and to jointly uphold international law.

The president stressed that Russia and African nations oppose using “punitive” measures to strong-arm other countries.

“We oppose the use of climate issues, the protection of human rights, and the so-called gender agenda for unseemly political purposes,” Putin said. “Illegal practices such as unilateral sanctions and restrictive, in fact punitive, measures that harm countries pursuing an independent course are unacceptable, and create economic problems on a global scale that hinder development.”

Putin also noted that Russia and Africa are “united by an innate desire to defend true sovereignty, the right to their own, original path of development in the political, economic, social, cultural and other spheres,” and stressed that the desire for such independence does not mean self-isolation, but leads to increased ties with other sovereign states.

The Russia-Africa Summit has entered its second day in St. Petersburg, with 49 African delegations attending, including 17 heads of state. One of the key aims of the event is to boost collaboration between Moscow and the African continent on peace, security and development goals.

Story...if not for the few vocal African Presidents, all our African leaders are houseboys to their counterparts in other continents.Ordinarily, the ones speaking shouldn't even be the ones speaking for Africa (except a William Ruto)/

Imagine a Tinubu, with all his atrocities, presiding over Africa's most populous nation.Who takes us serious?

Even a General Tchani from Niger will speak where a Tinubu can not contribute to global discuss

Putin the strategist.
There's definitely a catch to all these generosity.

If there's one thing the West hates, it is for Africa to be self-sufficient.
What they really want is for Africa to always be under their manipulations and control.

Meanwhile, nothing as hilarious as a Bola Tinubu talking tough after being appointed the Ecowas chairman, only for his next door neighbours to overthrow his fellow corrupt politician in a coup.. grin grin.

Imagine an illegitimate President preaching legitimacy in a democratic governance to other African countries.

God sha knows how to shame the wicked!

The first step to African greatness is to separate religion from politics and uphold total secularism.
Africa must also seek the knowledge of technology and science by teaching and learning sciences and technology using our mother tongue.
Africa countries should not allow themselves to be used to settle scores between China/Russia and West.

With Russia now looking towards Africa, the former colonialists who don't want Africans to break free from their chains will be jittery.

I mean all the resources are in Africa but someway, somehow African currencies do not have value and Africans are still largely poor. Maybe those with P.hD in Economics can explain to us better cos me I am not understanding the magic going on.

It's actually laughable listening to this guy talk about how he's different when Wagner is already in 3 African countries and heavily stealing their resources.

What exactly will Africa gain from Russia? Any realignment should be with India, China or the USA. Russia has more to gain from Africa than Africa from Russia.

Wagner is not stealing any resources. Can you give an example since you believe such?

I hope Russia, china will help build Africa as a leverage like America build Europe and united them after ww2. That'll be the greatest win for multipolarity.

That will be the end result.

For example, France would have intervened in the recent Niger coup, but since the global atmosphere is increasingly anti-western, and also because alternative power centers have emerged (eg China), they won't intervene, to prevent Niger from jumping into the arms of China who is ever ready to welcome them with infrastructure, loans, and not interfering in their internal affairs.

So the way the international politics (international jungle actually) is right now, is a stalemate. Meaning, you just don't squeeze much, to avoid giving Africans every reason to migrate to a benevolent power.

So either the West up their game and develop Africa, or China/Russia will do it, either way, it is a win-win for Africa. But the West has lost. Their history with Africa is so dark that no amount of propaganda, or brainwashing can clean.

Also, their argument while they support Ukraine is on the premise of territorial integrity and national sovereignty, that every country has the right to seek its own developmental path.

So it would be hypocritical to prevent Africans from aligning with China for example. So yes, living life as a liar and hypocrite is difficult because it is only a matter of time before situations will arise that will expose your hypocrisy.

The west is in for a long one. So either they drop the hegemonic behavior that they are used to and get onboard with the new world, or engage in an exercise in futility by trying to hold on to what's left of their imperialism, which will make them go down faster.

This is how things stand. The Western countries have not been able to damage the Russian economy. NATO couldn't defeat the Russians in a regular war or through terrorism. The United States hasn't been able to isolate Russia diplomatically. The group of powerful people has also failed to turn the Russian population against Putin. So far, it is Russia that has stopped NATO from directly getting involved in the conflict. On the other hand, Russia has greatly weakened NATO's group of soldiers in Ukraine, and they have also reduced NATO's weapons supplies, which will cost billions to replace. The Western countries will also need billions of dollars to support the unsuccessful and corrupt Ukrainian government. Additionally, the West is dealing with high debts, a recession, and the growing influence of the BRICS countries that are reducing their reliance on the US dollar. As a result, it can be said that Russia has inflicted a "strategic defeat" on the Western countries

And even the internal rift from Wagner and putin failed

Romour has it that USA gave Wagner the six billion found in Pentagon yet the attempted coup could not materialize

Those who don't believe Russia is winning then ask the reason for western funded America why it wants to send cluster weapons it because Ukraine have not been able to even reach the first line of the defense and they can't even with that weapon because Russia has more cluster bombs than USA combined....

We told you that USA evil nato will fail you guys did not believe

God bless putin God bless mother Russia

African has so much to gain from Russia;
1, Dept relief. Putin just recently wrote off a dept of $23b for Africa.
2, Russia’s willingness to provide Interest free dept which you can never get from the west.
3, Cheaper Oil
4, Cheaper grains
5, Industry tutorship
6, Russia will provide loans without preconditions such as compelling Africa to loosen up on LGBTQ, or intervening in Africa’s internal affairs
Etc

Also, aligning with Russia does not in anyway prevent Africa from also aligning with India and China, after all those are some of the countries that make up the new Global South. It is only the USA that imposes sanctions if you align with China, Russia and non-friendly countries.

These countries you mentioned above are completely secular. Nigeria is not a secular state, although it claim to have a secular constitution. There are Sharia states in Nigeria that governs using Islamic jurisprudence.

Any update from the begi-begi by the US to China?

From my understanding, the Chinese are holding on well enough and only need to maintain at least 4-5% GDP growth rate. As for helping Africa, I am not too sure about the reports that the new Keyna president sidelined the Chinese from investments and trade. Countries that align with China tend to benefit via TRADE deals not LGTV and military bases. Ecuador got free trade while Malaysia got $10BN investment from Geely. Brazil also got investments. Compare this to Phillippines which got an extra military base or Uruguay being angry that upon the priase she gets from America, it has not translated into trade deals and investments. Now, she is turning to China. One of the reasons I applaud Tinubu is sticking with the Chinese. Although his ethnic group tends to benefit the most.

Judging from history, China will invest in African countries and allow us to develop provided we play our part by actually making judicious use of the investments and upholding basic legal agreements that form the bedrock of a developing society. She has the companies, capital, technical know-how etc. Na for we to play our part. If we miss out or disappoint China, na we fvck up. As long as I am concerned, the West is comfortable in seeing sub-Saharan Africa remain in multidimensional poverty.

Any update from the begi-begi by the US to China?

The update that the media is not talking about is that the US has dictated its economic peace terms to China. You can read more about it here on foreign policy.

https://foreignpolicy.com/2023/04/24/america-has-dictated-its-economic-peace-terms-to-china/

China must accept America’s demarcation of the status quo. If it does not respect the boundaries drawn for it by Washington between harmless prosperity and historically consequential technological development, then it should expect to face massive sanctions.
An excerpt from the above link.

But the ability to sanction others can only be possible with the US dollar being the world's reserve currency, and also the US being the sole hegemon. Those days are increasingly becoming over but seems like Washinton has not caught up with the new realities.

I don't want to analyze the article much, but reading it just makes my stomach sick. I mean, according to the US, their national security is a global thing, and the war in Ukraine is the most pressure Issue.

It is the idea that war with a democratic country means America and its freedom are under attack, so therefore, America has to fight them there (eg supporting Ukraine), so they don't fight them (Russia) in America. Implying that after Ukraine, Russia is coming to America.

Of course, this makes no sense, but again, American politics is that any ideology that will push forward their agenda will be adopted, no matter how stupid. They have designated themselves to define which country is democratic and which is not. Such godlike behavior.

The peace term simply gave a hint to the rule-base-order that Washington has always talked about, but refuses to define. Of course, the world understands what that term means by US actions, but it's always good to hear from the horse's mouth.

So basically, Washington has announced that in order for China and the US to coexist, the Chinese must accept what I would describe as the division of labor of the international system.

So China must calibrate its affairs to not interfere, obstruct, reshape, challenge, or undermine the world order the US has built since the second world war.

In layman's terms, China must accept to be the global factory and must not aspire more than that, Africa must be the resources factory, and the West will be the beacon of technology and political leadership, something like that.

Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen delivered these remarks at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), finally, the hegemon has revealed its intent after failing in all their attack against China.

From sanctions to 24/7 international media blackmailing to the Hong Kong riot, Xinjiang, banning chip sales, restricting fair competition by banning Chinese companies (eg Tiktok, Huawei), etc.

But will the Chinese agree with this? Of course not. You don't just back down because someone screamed at you to back down, you only back down if the other opponent can beat you clean.

Right now, it pains Washington to know that there is nothing they can do to China, absolutely nothing. They have done everything possible under the sun, but the Chinese keep growing faster.

And the Chinese want them to keep busy with the Ukraine war, while they advance their global strategy of dismantling American Hegemony. Sammy Harris has a very good video concerning this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72m0cK423-Q

But anyways, the matter on the ground is that the US has come to terms that there is a new sheriff in town, and all the neighbors prefer the new guy. It's painful to accept, but that's the new reality on the ground.

Seems like the Anglo-American empire will not beat the Spanish silver dollar, a reserved currency that lasted for over a century during the reign of the Spanish empire. The dollar is about 80 years old.

Interesting time indeed.
