Sickle Cell Patient Gaza Scams Loved Ones with 86.7m For Treatment by DyshApp: 11:38pm On Jul 28, 2023
The story began in March 2021 when Gaza's friends rallied together and initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for her life-saving BMT procedure. Their efforts were fueled by genuine concern and love for a friend they had watched struggle with sickle cell all her life. The campaign's goal was set at an ambitious $200,000, and through the power of social media and collective goodwill, they quickly started raising the necessary funds.

As donations poured in from across the world, Gaza's friends felt a sense of hope, believing they were contributing to saving her life. But as time passed, differences in Gaza's actions started to raise suspicions. When they approached her about the progress of the BMT procedure, they noticed inconsistencies in her responses.

They later discovered that Gaza was still soliciting funds on TikTok, even after they had handed over the raised amount to her.

In an attempt to understand the situation better, they approached her with a demand for a medical report confirming her new diagnosis. Gaza's reaction to their request further deepened their suspicions. Accusations of unsupportiveness and distrust followed, leading to her decision to exit the group chat.

They decided to visit her at home, seeking clarity and understanding. During their meeting, Gaza's father mentioned a medical report confirming the new diagnosis, and she admitted to having spent a significant amount of the BMT donations on medication. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the friends and Gaza agreed that they would visit the bank to restrict her access to the BMT funds, in addition to seeking rehabilitation and therapy.

However, the truth remained elusive, and the situation only became more complicated. Gaza's friends wanted to provide accurate updates to the public, but Gaza resisted sharing bank account statements. When she finally sent the statement for the naira donations held in a Zenith Bank account, their suspicions were confirmed. The funds meant for her BMT had not only been spent but were used recklessly on restaurants, spas, local flights, and other personal expenses. They even discovered large sums transferred to her personal bank account.

As the pieces of the puzzle fell into place, Gaza's friends were stunned to learn that she had organized a lavish birthday party in December 2022 using funds from the BMT donations. Initially, she claimed her family sponsored the event, but further investigations revealed that her then-boyfriend had footed the bills.
