My experience. So I was forced to go to Ikorodu. This was beyond my control. I couldn’t avoid this journey even if I tried, and trust me I tried. Anyway there is no way I am driving that journey. I don’t like stress. And there is no way I am uber-ing that journey. It’s 20000 Naira . Waste of good money. So I got those small buses from lekki to cms. It was 400 Naira . From cms to Ikorodu the BRT journey was 700. So that’s 1100 Naira for a journey that’s 44 km long. That’s about a dollar and some change for a 44km journey. If you get the greyhound in America for a journey like that you are looking at 100 dollars.

And so even with all the hike we are still doing good. Y’all niggas quit crying angry

There are people who live at that ikorodu and work on the island, earning less than 200k. Now imagine paying 2,200 every working day for one month. That would be about 48k.

If the person is married with kids, inflated prices of other commodities in the market would consume the remaining money leaving him to resort to begging just for survival.

Please in whatever experience you're trying to give here, never compare Nigeria with America. They earn higher and have a more stable economy.

well if you live in Ikorodu and work on the island there is something seriously wrong with you lol .
So if you happen to be a leader and you're on a media chat, this would be your reply when such questions are asked? Knowing fully well that all high paying jobs are on the island. No wonder Africa is so backward.

You obviously have no grasp of what lagosians are going through. Maybe it's because you've never worked in Nigeria. In case you're not aware, most people you see working on the island are coming from Berger, warewa, ibafo, mowe, ojuore, toll gate, sango, ikorodu... etc Reason being that accommodation in these areas are relatively cheap so they can save enough money for other things. And since transportation to work was fair because government was subsidizing fuel, it was an easy way for them to save more money.

I have a cousin who lives in Houston TX and works at Temple TX. He drives over 4 hours to and fro every working day, he told me he prefers living at Huston to Temple.

I also knew medical doctors in Enugu back then who lived in Abakaliki and drive to work everyday day because accommodation and lands in Abakaliki arw far cheaper as compared to Enugu, so it would be very easy for them to establish themselves in Abakaliki than Enugu.

Didn't your Tinubu promise to make Nigeria better for all Nigerians.

If the country is good why should something be wrong with someone who chooses to live in a place where things are cheaper and work on the island? Why must something be wrong with such person... kindly tell me Obadiah777 😒

cheesy nne life should not be so hard. It is us humans who complicate life. If you live in Ikorodu and your work is on the island then move to the island, or learn a skill to do remote work from home in Ikorodu. Shikena. It’s 2023 not 1900 . The digital age. Nne mobile phone is not just to be looking at big yanch on instagram everyday oooo

It's Nna not Nne I'm male. 😒

Also I'm not living at ikorodu or any of those areas I mentioned... although I've met people who live there and work on the island that's why I mentioned them.

Besides remote jobs aren't as easy to come by like most people think. So our best bet is that our leaders should make life easier for us. I believe it's not too much to ask seeing how they promised us heaven and earth during the elections.

lmao I like to use nne for everybody 😄 but yeah I totally understand but let me tell you me personally I don’t care if you are paying me 1 million dollars a year there is no way I am commuting from Ikorodu to island and then back to Ikorodu daily. You can’t pay me enough to damage my body like that. I value myself over money

like where is the profit in that for the transporter ? If you tell me to be carrying people 44km for just 300 Naira I would say you should keep your business. That’s modern day slavery

The goal isn't to commute that distance forever, but to have the opportunity of saving enough money to upgrade yourself for a better life.

nne make upgrade go die, I will remain downgrade than to do that journey everyday. It took me 2 days to recover from that journey. All the bumps and the shock absorber of the bus was bad so all that bump nearly killed my stomach and yansh lol. I don’t care about that kind of upgrade 😏
