The Swedish Embassy has given a detailed reply to a Nigerian Tourist Visa Applicant who got turned down, providing reasons why the visa application was denied.

One of the reasons they provided was prevalence in trade in forged documents.

In another breadth, they made allusion to the fact that even Certified True Copies of documents no longer guarantee their authenticity.

We might want to pretend about it but all this is an offshoot of the embarrassment we got ourselves into in the choice of the people we have chosen as leaders.

The person who got declared as president is facing certificate forgery problems.

Ogun governor is facing certificate forgery problems.

Lagos governor is facing certificate forgery problems.

Enugu governor is facing certificate forgery problems.

A lot of people recently nominated for ministerial positions are facing certificate forgery problems.

INEC is denying their Certified True Documents in different courts.

All these things are in the news, and we think these guys are not watching, reading and using those things to form their opinions which would inform their decisions.

In the end, I hope you all realize that you are not being patriotic by supporting criminals to remain in power, you are rather killing the country you claim to love.

Nigeria’s image needs to be salvaged; and quickly too.

Since OP brought up a lot of politicians on this topic as though they also applied for Swedish visa and got turned down, let me also remind him about his political god, Peter Obi.

Peter Obi refused to present any tertiary qualification to INEC, except GCE. Then his aide later presented his university degree to the public instead of showing us an INEC certified copy.

What was Obi hiding?

Why did Obi avoid presenting his university degree certificate and the associated NYSC certificate?

Was he avoiding the fate that befell the running mate of David Lyon who won the Bayelsa governorship, but lost the mandate due to different names on different certificates?


Before looking to politicise the visa rejection of a single individual by making accusation against other political party members except your own party, Labour Party, that is the dumping ground of the other parties that still defeated yours, be sure your own political leaders are not detained at airports, which is worse than Visa denial.

Go back and read the Embassy’s letter in detail. Read it slowly this time so you can understand it.

There’s nowhere in the letter the Embassy accused the applicant of presenting forged documents.

Again, the applicant has valid US Visa. Did he obtain that with forged documents?

Their decision was based purely on the recent revelations of how virtually all elected officials in the last election is having one certificate forgery problem or another.

What it means is that the poor applicant is just a victim of the criminalities of the leaders of his country at all levels.

You're the one that need to read with intuition. Report are based on previous occurrence not necessarily the present applicant. Nigerians love for drug, fraud, prostitution and corruption is what resulted to visa denial from most countries. Do you want to hypocritically single out politicians on this?

Imagine 23 Nigerians being deported from one flight because of this same fake documents . I was shocked that day cos my own visa and documentation was questioned as well cos of those ones but was quickly released after they confirmed it. Ordinary South Africa oo

It was listed as GCE Degree for only him, unlike others whose academic qualifications clearly showed as Bachelors Degree.

Same reason his aide could not show an INEC certified copy of the university degree, rather showing just a regular copy.

Because Obi refused to submit it to INEC.
