Is child dedication or naming ceremony really important ? Because i once work with a british man when his wife put to bed we were expecting that he will call us for his child naming ceremony or child dedication but nothing as such.but the baby was given a name.

I will say it matters here in Nigeria due to our culture.

Lols... This is Africa.. and I'm sure you are a Nigerian.. and I'm sure you were born and raised here in Nigeria...and I'm sure you must have witnessed or even attended a couple of Child dedication here in Nigeria...
And I'm sure that you know some people who gave birth but didn't do any child dedication and they are still alive today plus their child??
So why asking this?
This is what we do.. This is who we are..
This is what makes us Nigerians/Africans..
It may sound absurd to a foreigner, but to us it's a norm...
Just like how animal laws and right are heavily protected in western countries..
If you don't want to do dedication, then you as parents, pray for your child and live on..
Happy Sunday...

In whatsoever god you believe in, it's good you dedicate your child to that god.
It's not a matter of you throwing party.
