FG mulls single salary scale for MDAs
Deborah Tolu-Kolawole

Plans are underway for a single salary scale that will be performance-based for civil servants in ministries, departments, and agencies of the Federal Government, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, has said.

Speaking during a virtual interactive session with a cross-section of civil servants across various MDAs, Yemi-Esan also noted that plans were underway by the Federal Government to ensure that civil servants enjoyed “better days,” following the removal of the subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol.

A statement released by her office, which was signed by the Director of Press, Muhammed Ahmed, and sighted by our correspondent on Saturday read partly, “Dr Yemi-Esan, CFR, highlighted government’s plans to improve the welfare of workers worsened by the present excruciating economic conditions, such as the introduction of a single salary scale for workers in ministries, extra-ministerial departments, and agencies, which she said will be tied to productivity not profession; allowances, palliatives, and subsidised transportation to cushion the effects, in the next few weeks.

The Head of Service further emphasised the issue of promotion arrears and the timely release of letters of promotion to avoid accumulated years of promotion allowance.

She insisted that yearly promotion processes should start and end within the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning. She also urged MDAs to submit their requests for promotion arrears on time, to enable the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation to forward the same.

The statement added, “Reiterating one of the objectives of the interactive session, which is to get feedback from the civil servants on the ongoing transformation of the service, Dr Yemi-Esan also highlighted a number of impactful initiatives as captured under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021- 2025 (FCSSIP 25).

“These include induction, SMAT-P and LEAD-P, which were resuscitated to propel the service to be capable of competing, favourably, with those of other climes.

“Dr Yemi-Esan, CFR, spoke extensively on digitalisation and Performance Management System, as key drivers of high productivity.”

I knew it will get to this some day wink

There has been proliferation of different categories of pay and creating huge disparity within the system. The system will need to go back to its days of yore when there were no contess, conmess, conhess etc yet civil servants were motivated and well renumerated. Check my signature for free stuffs!

What is happening in Adamawa is a child play if the government didn't put food on the table for Nigerians, 02 August is around the corner. Honestly Nigerians are not even asking for too much, they are asking for only food and peace

That great! https://www.nairaland.com/7783954/wow-why-said-tinubu-make
I was with some friends in an highbrow area of Abuja unwinding yesternight when one of my friends that works with Presidency said I should give him Idris Abdulkareem's number, that he wants to say a Big Congratulations him. I told him I didn't have Idris number, and then asked him what the Congratulations about? He said he overheard discussion during the day when Idris Abdulkareems name was penciled down as the best selected among all the modern Musicians considered to be immediately Appointed as Special Adviser to The President on Youths Affairs. Of cause I know the Presidency has Idris number would surely intimate him on his new Appointment soon, I guess my friend just wanted to get the privilege of pre-informing him.

Sincerely, Idris has been one of the very few Great Nigerian Musicians that have not greedily focused on amorally making money. They must have observed that he has been at the Forefront of intentionally Using his Song for Positive Social Engineering of Nigerian Youths in Particular and African Youths in General.

Similar to many of his Songs, remember his "Mr Lecturer" Song where he so excellently artistically used the Hit Track Song to warn young Nigerian Lecturers and Teachers to stop using their position to take advantage of female Students, as he was arrested and taken to Prison at the end of that Song in the Music Video.

Unlike some senseless myopic Musicians that have been using their Songs to destroyed the mentality of Nigerian Youths by promoting Drug Abuse, Hooliganism, YahooYahoo, etc. Idris Abdulkareem has truly Proven that he has Right Priories when it comes to Purpose Fulfillment and application of his God-given Talent to better Humanity, unlike the Visionless directionaless Souls that have done irreparable Damage and Destruction to the Lives of our Youths with their Societal-destructive Songs that has made our Youths to become unprecedentedly immoral, violent, directionless and unpatriotic!

Finally, my friend told us all that this Idris Abdulkareem's Song below is the one that really got him Chosen above all others in the Yesterday's Destiny-deciding Meeting. He said the President was so impression with it that guy in charge had to put it playing low on Repeat non-Stop at the background throughout the Meeting. It must be because the Song really discourages the myopic Japa-mentality that is now so common among Nigerian Youths. Idris Abdukareem addressed this Song to the Yoruba Youths in particular because he must have noticed that the counter-progressive Japa Syndrome has become particularly endemic especially among the Yoruba Youths, that is why he used this to encourage and remind them of the Great Yoruba Blood of their Fathers that Courageously Protected and Developed Yoruba Land as Youths in their own Days. It is also a message for all Nigerians to stay in Nigeria because only then can we join hands to make our Country truly Great.

If you know Idris Abdulkareem, quickly put a Call through to him and say a Big Congratulations! His Labour of Love for Humanity is finally paying up.
Me too I've downloaded this Song and put it on Repeat in my car, let's share it far and wide. Great Jam!!!

Always mulling.
Don't announce it, just do it. This was exactly the same thing Buhari said that he couldn't implement.
Personally, I don't think this is feasible because thousands of people will have to lose their jobs because they are not adding any value. You have to work for the money.
Go to federal secretariat in Abuja and see see civil servants loitering about the whole place. No office for them to even seat, talk more of work to do. But they get paid at the end of the month.

In such a situation, do you pay them same amount with people who work tirelessly to add value?

Meanwhile, all the palliatives and other incentives that I have seen so far are only targetted at civil servants and top private firms. From increase in salaries, to working from home, to reduction in the number of working days for civil servants.

What of millions of Nigerians that neither have a job nor business?

About 80% of Nigerians are either unemployed or underemployed. Yet, government hasn't said anything about such people.
