1: Cape Town is South Africa’s oldest city…

Hemmed In between the sea and the scenic Table Mountain , Cape Town is best known for it’s sandy beaches, historic architecture, breathtaking view points and charming vineyards.

Cape Town is one of the planet’s most breathtaking cities. Nature surrounds this multi cultural city which nuzzles between a rugged range of mountains and seas.

One of the top things to do is visit the Table Mountain, the flat topped peak presiding over the city!

2: Kruger National Park…

Is one of the best game reserves in Africa. It is one of the oldest in South Africa.

If you are a wildlife lover then this famous park definitely needs to be on your South Africa itinerary.

The park is located about 3.5 - 4.5 hour drive from Johannesburg and offers visitors the chance to see “ Big Five ; Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant and Rhino as well as an outstanding diversity of other wildlife.

It is the home of San (Bushman) rock paintings and archeological sites!

3: Sabi Sands Game Reserve…

One of South Africa’s most luxurious safari experience. It is just adjacent to Kruger National Park.

One of the perks of taking a tour here Will be the ability for game drives to get really closer to the animals because they do not have to stick to a particular route.

The animals themselves can roam freely between Kruger and Sabi Sands!

4: Sun City Resort…

If after sightseeing and safaris you are looking to kick back and relax in style- then Sun city ☀️ is the place to go.

Often referred to as the “ Las Vegas of South Africa” guests can enjoy fun water parks, golf courses and a casino.

Asides rides and water slides you can quad bike and water ski or try out your luck at the casino.

This resort opened in 1979 and makes a great getaway!

5: Cradle of Human Kind…

A UNESCO world heritage site. The cradle of human kind is a paleo anthropological site where more than half the world’s early hominid fossils have been found.

Child friendly self guided tours start at the innovative Maropeng visitors center.

A tour of the nearby Sterkfontein caves leads to a carven where the most complete Australopithecus Africanus skull ever was discovered.

The 2.5 million year old “ Mrs. Ples” was unearthed in 1936!

6: Robben Island …

Also a world UNESCO site. Robben Island is a haunting reminder of the horrors of apartheid.

Nelson Mandela spent 18 years imprisoned in a tiny cell here along with other political dissidents and misfits.

A complete history of South Africa can not be told without mentioning apartheid.

So Robben Island gives a remarkable insight!

7: Apartheid Museum …

A harrowing place to visit, the Apartheid Museum covers a hugely important but yet horrific part of South Africa’s past.

This museum will evoke a wide range of emotions, leaving you exhausted but upbeat at the end. As apartheid’s impact is still sadly seen ( and felt) wherever you go in South Africa.

You really have to spend at least half a day here. This will help you understand all the places and people you visit!

8: Drakensberg Mountain …

Reaching between 2,000 and 3,482 meters in height are the massive and majestic Drakensberg Mountains.

One of the most rugged and wild parts of South Africa, it is known for its breathtaking and jaw dropping peaks, buttes and death defying drops.

Drankensberg translated “ Dragon Mountain “ in Afrikaans as an amazing scenery especially for those who like adventures like me.

It forms a border with land locked Lesotho!

9: Addo Elephant National Park …

Last on my list of tourist destinations in South Africa for enthusiasts is this wonderful park.

The Addo Elephant Park is a diverse wildlife conservation park situated close to Gqeberha in South Africa and is currently ranked third in size after Kruger and Kgalagadi Transfrontier Parks!
