Eavesdropping on a gathering of ladies conversing, I was shocked to hear that all of them have fallen victim of these notorious criminals –some, even multiple times. Since I wasn't in their midst, I wasn't able to get the details audibly. Only strategy I could catch is that when the driver asks where you are going, it could be a sign that he's not truly plying that route but fishing for unsuspecting commuters to leave with gory aftermaths such as emptied accounts, parting with their valuables, physical scars

Apparently, one isn't even safe when a lady is an occupant of the vehicle. So for those of us who still board "along", who can be considered jjc, can you suggest tips to avoid such unfortunate tragedy?

I'm referring to intrastate. It surprisingly seems to be very rampant within Abuja. There are no buses or parks, per se. It's called "along" because you jump in along the road

1. Dont be in a hurry to board any taxi/bus.
2. Don't appear to be too cautious.
3. Pretend to be making calls.
4. Go close to the driver and ask the price to your location before boarding.
5. When inside the vehicle, start a conversation, speak louder than everyone else.
6. Tell story of 'one chance' doings around town and how you are prepared for them.

Show no fear when you are swimming with sharks.
People of the underworld are very experienced. They smell fear and caution in people and use that against them.

Meanwhile, hustle hard to get your own car or at least to be able to afford Uber.
