Chile Is an amazing country to be honest. It presents its own kind of struggles. It definitely provides you with the opportunities but you would need to work extra hard to get them

They are very thorough here especially with the theory parts. There's also other interviews. A single wrong answer or an ineffective answer can spoil your whole progress.
Thanks chief

Marriage only speeds up permanent residency. Has no bearing on nationality.

The interview process in this part of the world is something else entirely. What I will advise people especially people going as students is to start the job search from day one. Try and make the mistakes all early and get used to the process. I am surprised that a few people wait until their program ends to start looking for work.

Can you work full time as a student even if remote.

You may have answered this already but how did you learn Spanish.

In Chile, the law says 30 hours but absolutely no one cares lol. No one is going around checking the number of hours you have worked or not worked lol. The government wants you to work that's why there's hardly any restrictions with regards to what you can do employment wise on your visa. I learnt Spanish from Nigeria.

Did you take classes?
I suppose I'm trying to find out what works.
I've started and stopped over the years

Yeah I did take classes but men nothing beats living in the country and interacting with native speakers. With even the Spanish I learnt in Nigeria, when I came it was as if I wasted all my time lol. I remember when I had my initial job interviews in Spanish I didn't even know what to say grin grin. Recruiter calls used to scare me like crazy.

I feel Colombia has more jobs than Chile to be honest. For every 10 recruiter calls I get, 6 are from Colombia. 2 are Chilean, 2 are Argentine. Brazilians speak Portuguese so they won't be bothering with other Latin Americans but I have had a few Interviews with companies in Brazil.
Sir sorry for digression, what's your view on forex or crypto trading... it's like I'm just learning programming in an endless loop not leaving it tho, just asking how trading is compare to programming

I am not a crypto or forex trader so I can't really say anything regarding both.

The passport is great but the bureaucracy there is frustrating. I have a friend who lived there for 7 years, got his child there and they still do not give his wife the permanent residency. The wife was told to renew her yearly card which the cost is unbearable to the family anymore. The guy relocated to another nearby country and he has the passport in few years of living in the new country. I wish you luck and reading your thread makes me proud as a Nigeria.

That's a very weird case. Having a child born in Chile gives you permanent residency if you already had a temporary residency before hand. There's probably something they did they didn't tell you. I have met other Nigerians here in Chile that hold a Chilean passport. Also temporary residency is 2 years and can only be renewed once. After that you need to apply for permanent residency or leave the country. The temporary residency is not renewed indefinitely. Your friends didn't tell you the truth. Also, Chiles immigration faced a major overhaul in 2020. Before 2020, Chile had one of the easiest immigration systems. It was one of the few countries you could visit with a visit visa and convert to a work visa in Chile but that doesn't work now.

Boss, tell us about Colombia, is it cool too like Chile?

Do they offer scholarships for postgraduate study?

Third day of work and it's still unbelievable to me. To be honest, my current job is something I have been chasing all the way from Nigeria. I got into Salesforce back in 2021 and have been trying to get a Salesforce job but it was so impossible in Nigeria. I just focused on my frontend I was doing then. At least I had a job and it paid really well at least by Nigerian standards.

I won't lie despite all my research about Chile I was so scared when I was coming here. Even my whole family thought I had gone loco. Only my uncle in Belgium supported me. His reason being a country with visa free travel to the US, Canada and Europe can never be a bad country. He sent me 2000 usd back then which was what I used to pay my rent for a year.

At this point, I am super contented with everything I have. A good job in a good company and I live in a very solid country. Chile is so amazing for me and I absolutely have no regrets that I made the move. I have been so exposed to so many opportunities here and I haven't even spent up to a year. I have interviewed with even the equivalent of the central bank of Chile whereas I don't even know if my own countrys central bank even recruits.

For anyone trying to relocate, I only have one piece of advice: be a man of value. Strive to create value. Research on what people want, try and learn them and try to use what you have learnt to build value. No country in the world is easy but some places are more difficult than others.

Bros. My present salary is like 400 percent what I was earning in Nigeria and since the income is coming from outside Chile it's tax free for the first 3 years. I only need to pay my pension and health insurance. It's unbelievable. It's literally life changing money and even when I start paying taxes it's just 19 percent a month.

Congratulations Tensa.

I have been following your thread right from the very beginning. See how far you have come. GOD is indeed GOOD to you!

More opportunities coming your way.
Take it!

I like the way you planned your japa movement. You deviated from the norm to create your own norm.

Wise brother you are!
