Street ke. There's no nigerian community in Chile. I made Chilean friends on the internet before coming here. Chile isn't a straightforward country to come to from Nigeria and the visa isn't easy to get. The only blacks I have met so far in Chile are from Haiti. There's a lot of Haitian refugees in Chile. There's a Nigerian guy in santiago though and another from nairaland who just concluded his PhD and moving to the US.

According to what I've heard, people who overstay their visas must pay a fine before they are permitted to leave the country.

Yeah and the fine is very huge depending on the number of days but that's a visitors visa. What I have a temporary residency permit. A visitors visa also known as transitory residence in Chile is pretty much useless. If you come here with a visitors visa and give birth your child won't be eligible for citizenship. You also can't work with it and it can't be converted to any sort of temporary residency except you are related to a Chilean national or permanent resident.

Six months to a year. Sweden is very okay but much more expensive than Chile. Universities in Sweden are at least 20000 euros per year and that's just for tuition. You still have to sort out your proof of funds and the visa is not assured. You can do everything right and still be denied a visa. That 20000 euros in Chile will take you to university of Chile or pontifica catholica which are the best universities in south America and Chile and both universities are in the top 200 in the world.

I think if you can afford Sweden, you shouldn't be thinking of Chile. Chile is an alternative for people with not much money and is a solid transit point to any country.

For instance, in Chile you can get permanent residency after your program. 3 years on permanent residency and you can be a citizen. With a Chilean passport you can work in Canada without needing an LMIA and work in the US on a H1B1 visa which is just for chileans and singaporeans. You can also visit both countries without needing a visa. Chilean citizens only need to live in Spain for two years to get Spanish citizenship. Once you can get Spanish citizenship you can work anywhere in the EU especially in the much richer places like Switzerland or Luxembourg. Chileans rarely take advantage of any of these programs. For instance chileans have been exempt from LMIA in Canada since 1997 due to the Chilean Canadian trade agreement and there's still less than 30000 chileans in Canada. They don't migrate there. Also for H1B1, singaporeans use up their spots more than chileans. Chileans don't apply for it since most of them can't speak English.

Chile is a very solid stepping stone to anywhere in the world once you get the passport and is not too expensive or popular yet.
This might just be the pivotal point
In few years we go don full ChileπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

In Chile your student visa allows you to work for up to 30 hours a week. I don't know how many hours it is for Brasil. Everyone has been nice to me here in Chile. Even if they weren't nice I don't care. Better to live with racists in a prosperous country than tribalists in a poverty stricken hellhole.
How much per hour is their minimum wage

OP, thanks for your response, can I have your digit or mail for further inquiries?
tensazangetsu20:

Medicine in Chile is very expensive and very competitive. You need like all distinctions. The minimum is like 12000 to 15000 usd a year. Chilean doctors don't migrate. Doctors are very well paid in Chile. Resident doctors get above 100k usd annually when converted and that's a lot of money in Chile. Healthcare is of two types public and private. The public healthcare is free but shitty and inefficient. The private is expensive. Education is free until university but there are loans they take to go to university. Also they have a lot of scholarships for their citizens.

God has finally done it for me grin. 3 years worth of work came to fruition and I was able to japa to Chile tongue tongue tongue. Sharing some pics from my trip and my everyday life on this thread. This is for those who think that south america is hell. Theres a lot of amazing countries in the world. You need to research and figure out what works for you. My flight was from Lagos to doha to Brazil and then finally to Chile. I didn't really start taking any pics until I got into Chile. I am sure you can find thousands of pictures about Brazil, Qatar or Lagos online but hardly anyone has posted anything about Chile.

The first pic is me In the plane crossing the Andes mountains. The light in the distance is the city of santiago.

Second is the airport in concepcion.

Third is my Uber ride from the airport to my Airbnb

Congratulations this Is Nice.

Internet infrastructure in Chile is very developed. Honestly if not for making calls you can live without getting a sim card. There's literally internet everywhere. From the airport to taxis to trains to buses to restaurants. Just putting up your wifi on any streets brings like 3 free wifi networks and this isn't even the capital city. The capital is Santiago and that's like 7 hours from here. Internet here is also very very fast. Screenshot is from the wifi at the Airbnb I am staying at.

Internet in Nigeria is very fast as well, but Nigeria is bleeped up. Godspeed to your hustle

Congratulations brotherly! This is nice. Omo, see country! 😍

Na to start to dey practice wetin you learn from duo lingo remain.

It's too sad that nobody writes about South America here and nobody cares, I don't know if it's the language barrier or something else.

For instance, people don't know studying in Brazil is free from kg to PhD, free Healthcare and free feeding cheesy, and they also started an exchange program that offers scholarship literally giving you stipends to study there.

Everyone just wan go UK and Europe with their N2m.

Europe, US, Australia and Canada have stringer economies than those folks. Besides, you cannot go far in your career in those countries if you don't learn their language. Lastly, nobody wants to risk going to a country where he will be discriminated against.

Actually some of us are scared of South American countries because of drugs.... that is my take... and as for Argentina i am told they dont marry Blacks... Brazil is okay... but other SA countries... i cant tell..!!.. May be that is why Nigerians r not too interested..

Congratulations once again brother! cool

Like someone said up there, face your studies and make us proud. cheesy

If I get other questions, I go post am here.

If you're that keen, download duolingo from playstore and begin your spanish tutorials from there. It doesn't require much data and time. At least 15 to 20 minutes on the app daily. I've been on it for about a month now and I can confirm how good that app is. I'll push the limits from next month by enrolling in an actual online study class, then get the certification. Outside my desire to migrate to a South American country, I've always had a liking for Spanish.
