A team at Cornell University has created a sophisticated AI model that recognizes the distinct acoustic patterns emitted when laptop keys are pressed. After analyzing thousands of recorded keystrokes, the AI could accurately deduce tapped keys just from their sounds.

Dubbed a “sound-based side-channel attack”, this stealthy eavesdropping method has achieved up to 95% accuracy in identifying keystrokes from audio recordings. Even with recordings from Zoom and Skype calls, the AI maintained above 90% precision.
