I wish the funds garnered from subsidy removal shall be judiciously utilized.
Tinubu to me is not responsible for this mess in our economy.
However way to make things work again in Naija, the economy cannot escape this current situation.

cool

This man deserves an award for this amazing discovery after more than 4months in Aso rock.
I understand this is a gentle notice to the general public on the massive taxation to come. That’s his specialty area.
I see VAT, PITA, CIT, Education Tax, Property Tax being reviewed upwards.

Being born in Nigeria kind of assures me that I’ll make heaven. God is not that unjust to let his people suffer twice.

4months after subsidy removal yet no palliative to help the growing poor masses. This man should have given other presidential candidates reasons to drop their court cases with stellar performance but with his choice of rogues as ministers and the ever growing discontent over the biting economy, Atiku and Obi stand as heroes that will come along to rescue us.

Why do you choose to be unreasonable?
Or maybe you’re naturally so.

Need I remind you that Mr President and his cartel have been running the country (de facto) behind the scenes.
If APC were to be a company, Tinubu owns >75% shares.

Now run along and don’t quote me again because this will be the last time you get my reply until you grow up.

Canada can afford to let their currency float with the US dollar. Their economy is stable enough to create a level playing field for both currencies to coexist without the potential danger of the US dollar running the Canadian dollar aground. Even with the side-by-side operational policy, the Canadian dollar cannot be battered to the point where inflation would skyrocket.p

The US can afford to float the GBP (Great Britain Pound) alongside it home currency, for the same reasons I enunciated above. Conversely, the US can always access the pound sterling in the case their domestic demand is out-running the availability of the pounds.

But you have to be daft to employ the same strategy to the naira and dollar when you don't have any sort of control whatsoever on the availability of the dollar and its demand by the public. You're naively creating an artificial scarcity for a currency that is literally the foundation of your economy, seeing how Nigeria basically doesn't produce anything it consumes, and depends wholely on imports which are further dependent on the US dollar.

I just dey pity Nigerians as it is. Y'all should wait for the festive period to come and see if you'll even be able to buy one fowl for your family to celebrate Xmas.. !
Thank you so much. Now, I understand.

But here is my concern, these people use to have men sorrounding them from financial institutions of high repute - P&G, price water copper house, Deloitte, CBN and so on, does it mean those ones do not understand all these factors or what?

Many elites like Ben Bruce even hailed this policy, so I was thinking it's truly a bail out one.
And to think the man leading the affair even claimed to be an accountant and good policy maker is another thing.

I wish I have time to waste, I would have gone for a diploma program in economics. Why is there is no fixed factor in fiscal policy - it is always trial and error, and most times, men who do these are mostly sorrounded with high profile economic maestro.
I can never understand.

@001Lagos, Tinubu knows what he's doing, I believe. Your assertion is steep in ignorance of historical economy. You don't just scratch the surface of history and expect to learn from it. In effect, you have a responsibility to the ghosts of the past. That's what sound minds do.

The Great Depression of October, 1929, didn't fully end, in spite of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's interventions with the New Deal, until America belatedly entered the Second World War. This was when the American economy really came out of the woods. It brought out the beast in America. They had to develop hardware for the war.

In effect, WW2 enshrined the US in the annals of history as an economic and political behemoth. So, people can actually profit from conflicts.

Mr. President, raising tax is a little part of the problem. The major problem is lack of profitable, taxable industries.

Why is the Nigerian government destroying refineries in the swamps of the Nigeria Delta? Why not mandate the so called illegal refineries to buy crude legitimately and refine? Then tax them!!

Was there any problem with crypto currency? No. But the Nigerian government instead of keying into crypto like the US, Canada, Japan, Germany and other enlightened nations but the government banned it instead.

Why is the Nigerian government bent on destroying businesses that could generate tax money, then you turn around and cry low tax? Where do you want to get the tax from??

U see am too.

Always destroying and turn around like TAM to cry about low tax, low revenue conundrum.

I have seriously advocated for Legalization of illegal refinery but nobody is seeing wealth in this transformational idea.
