It's simple, ask them to open a social media account on Facebook, Twitter and probably LinkedIn with the same information which must be with their full names.

This is what I can think of for now. I won't recommend running ads because I don't know how popular or rich your friends are plus it could be waste of money.

A strong social media presence with their full names, occupations, interest, business (things people could use to search for them) would do.

It's requires a Digital Skill called SEO.....you can outsource for it to be done or learn the skill and have it done.

This is exactly what they want, but they want it to be on Google and not Facebook or another account. Just like searching for song on Google and seeing it amongst the pop ups.

The person you quoted already gave you all the answers you need. Google is a search aggregator, not a publisher; so, if you want something to appear on Google, you've got to put it on publisher platforms.
If this basic explanation sounds like rocket science to you, then you surely need to hire a professional.

What you need is Google Search Console https://search.google.com/search-console/about and/or Google Business Profile https://www.google.com/business/.

If I may suggest, depending on what the group does, you can do the following;

1. create a blog using Google's free blog publishing platform (Blogger or Google sites),

2. put up an article or articles on the blog about the group or its activities

3. Have the blog and it's contents indexed on Google. This will involve making use of Google console.

Once this is done successfully, anyone that does a search about your group or anything relating to the contents of your group's blog, then it will show up on Google.
(Though this is just surface level implementation of SEO)

I was about saying the same thing too.

The reason I didn't mentions a blog is because I dont really know if your clients are willing to invest in a blog or knowledgeable about design web pages or evem willing to invest the time to learn how to create attractive webpages or create any at all.

Otherwise a blog will be their best bet. And that is a blog with a detailed about section containingg their;
full business names interest, portfolio, business, brand name and things they know their clients would definitely type into the search engine when trying to look them up.
