With the level of Tribal Hate, Fake News, etc being displayed on Nairaland, it is high time Seun ends Nairaland being a faceless forum.

Let the registration of every member be linked to a functional NIN-Registered GSM Number so that identities of members can easily be traced.

It’s really a nice idea.
Modify your post and add your NIN-Registered GSM Number
You should take the lead.

The tribal hate oozing on Facebook and Twitter, both of which are most certainly not faceless forums, monumentally dwarfs what's happening on Nairaland, bruf!

Still, I'm in concurrence with this stance.

You can block someone on Twitter and Facebook but you are meant to swallow all the hate from every troll and bigot on Nairaland. It's unfair.

Well, you are entitled to, and free to air your opinions. What you see depends on your mindset and doesn't fall into my list of condemnable acts on NL.

You can block someone on Twitter and Facebook but you are meant to swallow all the hate from every troll and bigot.

There's a popular Facebook group named RantHQ, with thousands of Nigerians as members from all over the country including the Diaspora, owned by one Suzan Ade Coker, who in recent times, has had to even accompany Femi Fani-Kayode on public appearances.

85 percent of the Admins in that group are Yorubas. And if you see the level of hate, bile and venom existing mostly between the Yorubas and Igbos in there, you'll understand that what is happening on Nairaland is only but an offshoot of a larger whole.

Why am I bringing this up? Nairaland is like that Facebook group, where threads and attendant comments cannot be blocked or removed by individual users, except the moderators. But when these Admins and even the platform owner, lack the required self-will and conviction to instill proper disciplinary measures, the best anyone can do is stay away from the forum.

Those vices may not be completely eliminated, but at least it will be reduced.
And most importantly, you can be held accountable for your actions.

You can block someone if you don't want to see their posts or comments and still participate in the same discussion with them without seeing their comments but it's not so on Nairaland.

What does it take to incorporate a block button on Nairaland?

Says who? It's not possible to be everywhere at every time.

Secondly, he wouldn't allow you a free pass because you will wake up to see that you are no more moderator at some point during your active duty without being given prior information hence my demand that he incorporated a blocking option on Nairaland to allow people to choose their circle of friends.

Trading insults spice up the forum. I have no issues with that. But certain levels of Fake News, Tribal Hatred etc threaten our very corporate existence.

You will be too funny to imagine that hate and tribal issues is only on Nairaland.

When you have a president who appoints 90% of people from his region with other 299 tribes being there for nothing...

Customs, Army, Police, TAX, and other top committees are held by one tribe...

What do you think the outside impact will be?

You people like solving issues from the top...this has always failed.

Have you ever heard about finding a root cause of a problem in your life?
