Federal Polytechnic Ilaro emerged victorious at the esteemed COMPODET project exhibition competition in Abuja, showcasing its dedication to academic innovation and technological prowess. An exceptional HND 2 student from the Mechanical Engineering Department secured the top spot in the HND category with an innovative project titled "Design and Construction of PET Bottles Shredder." This project aligns with sustainability goals and highlights the practical applications of engineering.

The awards were presented at the 31st COREN Engineering Assembly, themed "Entrenching and Strengthening Engineering Practitioners' Code of Conduct for Resilient Engineering Practice in Nigeria," held at the prestigious International Conference Center (ICC) in Abuja.

Other notable projects included one titled "Design and Construction of Energy Prepaid Meter with User Notification through SMS," securing second place in the HND category, and another project titled "Design and Construction of Password-based Office File Cabinet with Wireless Anti-theft Alarm System using Mobile Phone," earning third place.

In the National Diploma (ND) category, a project titled "Bluetooth-based Home Automation System using Android and Arduino" claimed the top position, followed by a project titled "GSM-based Home Automation System" and another project titled "Construction of a 200W Solar Induction DC Cooker."

The competition celebrated the brilliance of young engineering minds in Nigeria, reflecting their potential to drive innovation. The Chairman of COMPODET played a pivotal role in fostering this creative environment.
