In 2015 Ndigbo Will Produce Nigeria’s President –ohaneze Chieftain

By PETER ANOSIKE

Wednesday, October 12, 2011
The president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State Chapter, Chief Oliver Akubueze has said that his people are just putting finishing touches to plans to ensure that Ndigbo produce the president of Nigeria come 2015.

advertisement

Speaking with Daily Sun at the National Stadium, the venue of the Igbo Day Celebration last week, he said the bulk of the job will be done before the April 16,presidential election. The Ohanaeze president said that the major challenge Ndigbo have for a long time was not from the other parts of the country but from within themselves. According to him, now that they are now speaking with one voice, the project would easily be realized.

Power is taken not given

“I know that most people believe that power does not come on a platter. But I want to tell you that a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction would emerge without an Igbo man anywhere firing a single shot or raising a dagger. The way Babylon which was one of the strongest nations in the ancient world fell to the children of Israel without anybody firing a single shot would be the way a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction would emerge. This is a divine project and anything that God is involved in does not condone bloodshed. We are not going to bomb any human being or vandalize any pipeline. Our conscience will not allow us to do that because Nigeria is very dear to our hearts. We love Nigeria and as such cannot afford to engage in acts of hooliganism or vandalism .

It is just like a beautiful girl you want to marry. You don’t have to first of all disfigure her beauty or kill her before you marry her. That is the way Ndigbo feel about the country. We strongly believe that we will get justice with clean hands. The major challenge we have been having is not from the other ethnic nationalities. Our problem is ourselves. We have not been united. We have never spoken with one voice. But has changed. No other part of the country can again tell us to go and put our house in order. They cannot use that as excuse any more to deny us the presidency because we have not only shown that we are one. We have proved it and will continue to prove it. A lot of consultation was made before the April general election and the other parts of the country assured us in black and white that 2015 is our turn to produce the president of this country. The only thing that may cost us the presidency is disunity amongst us and that is what we have worked so hard to redress.

Numerous presidential candidates

Well, having a lot of people showing interest in a particular office is one of the beauties of democracy. That is freedom of aspiration. Again, all of us know what the office of the president entails. Therefore, before you come out, you must have examined yourself and found yourself not only capable but also fit for the office. If a hundred Igbo looked at themselves and feel that they are presidential materials, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It does not mean that we are not united. When all of them come out, the masses will look at their resume, what they have done in the past. How well they have benefited Ndigbo in particular and Nigeria in general because we are not looking for an Igbo president but rather a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction. That means, we will not be looking for a local champion but rather a national champion.

What of if Jonathan decides to run in 2015?

President Goodluck Jonathan is ably qualified to run in 2015.He has the constitutional right to vie for a second term of office. However, he has said that he would not run and up till this moment he has not changed the statement. It is based on that statement, that Ndigbo are warming up for one of their sons to take over from him in 2015.But if he changes his mind to run, we have already started to support him. I don’t think we will abandon him half way. We will finish what we have started. I am speaking my mind so the decision to run or not to run is left to him to make and whatever he decides, Ndigbo would sit down and look at it and restrategize. But all I know is that the power that has started going round must be allowed to complete the circle.

Single term of six years

I want to say that any thing that would move this country forward has my total support. However, I have few reservations about this single term of six years for president and governors. One of my reservations is that it would have been an easy sell if it were tied to rotational presidency. That would have helped to calm some frayed nerves in the country. If for instance, the South West know that after a six years single term of the south East, it would be their turn, they would cool down and give the administration their full support and hope to get same when it become their turn. No geo political zone would want to play bad card in any administration because sooner their turn would come.http://odili.net/news/source/2011/oct/12/521.html

Ohanaeze has to be the most confused and dumb group in Igboland. Are you socio-cultural or socio-political? undecided

These people are probably the dumbest people in Nigeria today.

Are you going to be President just by shouting 2015? Winning election involves making alliances, negotiations and reaching out to others.

Re: Ndigbo Will Produce Nigeria’s President In 2015 – Ohaneze by Nobody: 9:11pm On Oct 12, 2011
So are the going to impose him on Nigeria?

Last time I checked, the ppl's opinion mattered. . . . with rigging power.

It would be hard to rig if the SW and the north says otherwise.
Re: Ndigbo Will Produce Nigeria’s President In 2015 – Ohaneze by Bliss4Lyfe(f): 9:14pm On Oct 12, 2011
^Do not be deceived the west and north and middle belt are not unified and likely to want to produce their own president. Hence, all groups should look to the east as the compromise, for this country existence and the life's sacrificed to be justified.

Do ya want 2015 Igbo presidency or not?

I guess they will force both Igbos and non-Igbos to vote for whoever Ohanaeze says to?  undecided

Is it going to be by physical force which is the language of Nigeria? If so, what force do you even have now? You cant even force a 10year old Igbo child in the village to pay you any mind not to talk of Nigeria, lol  grin

Ohanaeze are just igbo and their strategy and thinking reflects that. 2015 is still far off and this move is just a public notice to fellow Nigerians of the south-east interest in the Presidency for 2015, with other factors in mind. It is now up to Nigerians to search their conscience and know the right thing to do. If America was able to elect a black president then i have every faith Nigeria can elect a President of south east extraction. Absolutely not all Nigerians are mad.

So have the middle said anything about Igbo presidency?

My own is, onaheze can't request or demand for presidency like it's going to happen just from demands and requests.

Re: Ndigbo Will Produce Nigeria’s President In 2015 – Ohaneze by Nobody: 9:34am On Oct 13, 2011
My advise to Ndigbo:

Nigerians from the last election voted Jonathan because he radiated knowledge and innocence, irrespective of the hate of PDP.

Is there any Igboman that radiates innocence in our present political equation ? Even in Business ? Answer is NO !, Until you teach your Igbo brothers to be transparent and decent, Nigerian Youths will never vote for you.

Last I checked, its FaceBook, Nigerialand and Sahara reporters that we shared ideas and idiologies on who to vote for. We didnt come to clan and ethnic meetings to tie wrapper and chew goatmeats.

We will NOT vote based on tribe or ethnicity, We will vote based on pedigree and performance.  The only Igbo person I could vote for, has disappointed Nigerians already with the subsidy removal without making provision for refineries, her name is Prof Okonjo Iweala. She will not have my vote, should she decide to run.

Rightly said. Even if Igbo or whatever tribe ascend the post, what difference shall it make?

When they get there, no be to chop and clean mouth (though these days they don't even bother to try and clean mouth) just like ALL the others?

Bad belle people, all all your plans against the Igbos will fail because God is on our side.

At least it is obvious that we preparing and our political consciousness is increasing

The north itself is divided now and they are scared that they have lost power over Nigeria, that is why they are trying to use BOKONORTH to force GEJ to the table so he will step down for them.

anyway lets keep our arms cross and watch 2015 am sure it will be an interesting year.

Re: Ndigbo Will Produce Nigeria’s President In 2015 – Ohaneze by Kolababa: 10:12am On Oct 13, 2011
Igbos have conceded presidency to the south south by supporting GEJ. Whether you like it or not GEJ will prefer to handover to a northerner in 2015. The igbos would have used 2011 election to negotiate the igbo presidency but they ignorantly threw it away to support the south south that never support them in their past aspiration. I can assure you, the south south will betray the south east in 2015.

this is the same confusion that dulled Nigerians since inception of this marriage, there is no blueprint for progress and someone is shouting IGBO president. I don't care where he/she is coming from provided he/she has the antidote and political will power to retrieve Nigeria from the blink of collapse.
Re: Ndigbo Will Produce Nigeria’s President In 2015 – Ohaneze by nagoma(m): 10:15am On Oct 13, 2011
The Ndigbo confuse us one minute they want a Sovereign State of Biafra and the next minute they want to produce a President for Nigeria. How can a Biafran (a foreigner ) be the president of Nigeria. Please be consistent.

I think for justice and unity sake, the Igbos should produce the Nigerian president in 2015. As for Ohaneze, any serious human being that take that hopeless bunch serious, is simply walking into a landmine with eyes wide open.
