Peugeot: Car Won't Start But Battery Seems Fine Everything Else Works. by Flipmac(m): 7:49pm On Aug 20, 2023
Hello guys,

My Peugeot 307 won't start but the battery seems to be charged and everything else works.

The dashboard lights come on when I turn on ignition, headlights show, electric windows work.

But the ignition doesn't even make a sound when I try to start the engine.

This happened yesterday morning and I called an auto electrician. He simply removed the battery, put in his own battery and the car started.

Since then the car worked fine until this evening.

Could this be a battery issue? Is it possible for a battery to work for everything else but still can start the car?

Please I need your opinions.

Since your auto-electrician’s is starting it with means your battery may be bad or something is draining the power of the battery

It's either your battery is not so strong or your key starter is giving you sign of stoping completely anytime

I understand. So it's possible for a battery to perform other functions but can start the car?

I see. The key starter doesn't struggle like in other cars. It's just totally silent.

I'm thinking it's the battery.

Seeing your dashboard lights doesn't mean your battery is good. Your battery should supply a certain volt to the car (I think 12.6v)
When the battery voltage drops below 12 volts, there is a possibility that it won't have enough power to start the car.
If you can charge the battery, do. If you cant, then, replace the battery.

If you want to be double sure its your battery, get a meter and check the volts.
It is recommended to have a battery with a voltage of at least 12.4 volts to ensure your car can start.

Thank you.

The car started after leaving it for like 5 hours. I'll have an auto electrician check out the alternator and if it works properly, I'll change the battery.
