How To Start A Blog In A Profitable Path 2023 - All The Information You Need by wealthpreach(m): 11:02am On Aug 22, 2023
Starting a blog can be a very tiring venture if you don't know what you're doing or what to expect at the initial stage. Many people quit in less than a month, as they expected to start blogging now, and then by tomorrow, Google would start sending money.

While others start blogging just because they have passion for the topic, a month down the line, they barely rank for any topic. They struggle with a meager 100 or fewer visitors per day, even after putting so much effort into writing lots of articles.

I have met a few people who splash the cash on articles and backlinks, yet they still don't see traction. This is because they do not do or look at the right thing. Blogging is not all about creating and posting articles as fast as you can, unless you're not aiming to build an authority site. Your quality of articles is meant to stand the test of time and attract organic links.

Blogging is not about writing a million words; it is all about the following keywords:

Niche Research

Keyword Research( this is where success lies to me, irrespective of using new or expired domains; once keyword research is done properly, you will reap quicker results)

Domain Research (should you use new or expired domains, and where could you possibly get them from?)

Hosting

Content

Content Strategy

Content outline and research

Pillar post: clustered keywords; siloing (this will help pass link juice evenly and boost topical authority; more on this later).

On-page SEO (meta, featured snippets, images, videos, speed optimization, header tags, LSI, proper keyword density, proper implementation of header tags, inclusion of main keywords in H2, contextual interlinking, facts, outbound do-follow links that could help the readers, not writing too short or too long articles, Failure to implement on-page SEO properly will lead to your posts disappearing from the SERPs.

Off-page SEO (backlinks, social signals, outreach, PBNs if needed, competitor analysis, competitor backlink gap analysis)

I have decided to simplify everything for everyone so we can make the right choices. We will take them one after the other.

First of all, niche research

You can't say you want to start a blog without doing proper niche research.

Niche research is the first thing you do before you even go ahead and get a domain. But in my experience with most people, as soon as they pay for my mentorship, they start rushing me to get a domain for them.

The lack of niche research is why most people fail when it comes to blogging.

Last night, while I was carrying out my usual research, I found a niche that has over 600 easy keywords. While cross-checking, I found out that over 500 of these keywords are extremely easy; even a new website could rank on the first page within a few days of getting indexed.

I have been quite overjoyed because I'm going to get a domain and cash out of that niche.

What is niche research?

Niche research is the act of scanning different niches to find the one in which you can have an easy breakthrough without having to buy backlinks.

For instance, don't just start writing about cats and dogs because you have seen that I have written about cats and dogs. You need to research the niche and ensure that there are easy keywords for which you can rank.

Don't just go and start writing about the house niche because you love the house niche or because you have an interest in home design or house designs; you will end up failing if proper research is not done.

Learn from the mistakes I made in my early years of blogging, and don't rush into blogging if possible. You can spend up to 2 months doing proper research to ensure that the niche you want to enter is easy.

When you have done your research and found an easy niche where you can excel, you can now get a domain (another important aspect of blogging).

Niche research is a must, and it will decide if you succeed or not.

Don't jump into a tech blog because you've gotten excited over the money NaijaTechGuide is making.

I love tech, but look at me blogging about cats, gardens, wood, shoes, and other funny niches!

I initially thought the tech niche was very hard because most of the things I was interested in writing about—the sites that cover them—had very strong backlinks, but recently, I decided to do some scan research, and I found lots of easy keywords on WhatsApp, Ubuntu, Linux, and so much more. In the future, I'll visit it, but for now, let me grow the newfound niche.

Don't forget to do keyword research and gather keywords before deciding on a niche.

Ah! Did I just dictate 450 words?

Niche research and keyword research work hand in hand, before you agree on a niche, you have to do keyword research on the seed topics of that niche.

For example, if I want to do the fruit niche, I will just jump into the niche, I will first do keyword research with the names of the fruits(seed keywords)

Orange
Orange seed
Orange plants
Orange stem
Orange tree

The same with mango, apples, pineapples, and so on.

When I do keyword research, if I find easy keywords, then I can now say: "The fruit niche is easy and I can thrive here".

For keyword research use SEm-----=-==rush and A-==h-=--ref, they are close to being accurate, but they are not accurate.

Let me get an example in pictures

It is best to use a pro version of Sem=-===rus=--h, as you will not be limited. The free version offers only 10 searchs, and you cant scroll beyond 10 results.

So when you access sem-=--rush, go to keyword magic tool, set country as USA, then type in the seed keyword ( seed keywords are those keywords you use in finding other keywords)

Sorry for the slow uploads, my router is misbehaving.

When the next page loads, you will see loads of difficult keywords with hundreds of thousands of monthly volumes. These keywords are for the big players, and if you run the first keyword on Google search, you will see Wikipedia. That Wikipedia page, if you search for the amounts of backlinks and referring domains linking to it, you will see why you can never rank No1 for the keyword: "orange".

This is why you have to search for easier keywords.

With over 13k backlinks to just one page and over 2.8k referring domains to just one page, how can a new website challenge this? This is why we move to the next point—keyword difficulty.

Keyword Difficulty

In semr==-=-=ush, keyword difficulty obviously means how difficult a keyword is, and it is represented as KD. When searching for keywords, you need to search for keywords according to your domain strength. A new website created today cannot challenge in the Easy Section., You will need to go for "Very Easy".

But does very easy mean the keyword is very easy? No! You need to type in the keyword on Google and search to discover if anyone has written about it or if fewer people have written about it.

You can't see a keyword that over 15 people have covered, and you'll go and write on it with the hope that your post will rank higher in 6 months' time (don't forget that other people's posts are equally aging as yours).

But if you go for a keyword no one has written about, you have a higher chance of ranking No. 1 in a few days.

If you buy an expired domain that is already established, you can easily rank for very easy keywords.

For example, if I create an article on Nairaland here and you check it, you'll see it'll rank today, but if you write an article with a new domain, it may even take 3 days before it gets indexed. So, what is at play here? Nairaland is an aged domain that already has trust in Google's eyes.
