I was thinking having this windows 10 was a blessing due to seamless application usage and installation but this days I have to admit if care is not taken I'll become homeless very soon, in the past few days I've been spending not less than 10gig per day just by only using google chrome.
Abeg has anyone also experienced this, how to curb this situation??

Nb: I've followed almost every advice I found online even ending tasks on task manager, stopping background data, and setting metered connection.

make sure to disable windows automatic update. It maybe activitie and each time you're online. It's starts to update, if it doesn't finish and your data gets exhausted, it starts afresh from the beginning when it sees you have subscribed new data

Find a way to disable it completely. It automatically starts to download once it detects there's an internet connection.

I did this and also realized a task was also consuming data in my task manager which I had to end and it stopped thanks boss

One of the reasons i switched to linux

On your run app( win + r )
Enter services.msc
Scroll down for windows update and change startup type to disabled.

Enter start type edit group policy then enter

Enter computer config
Admin templates
windows components
Windows updates enter
Then look for configure automatic updates disable it


Go to settings
Windows updates
Advanced options
Disable everything there

Restart PC it should stop consuming those huge data

Ha ha ha. I used to have this problem, but there's a way I disabled it completely and it stopped sucking up data.

I don forget the step cuz I went thru a lot of steps online till I found one that worked.
