Lobo day is a day celebrated in Leboku Festival

It's celebrated yearly in Ugep, Yakurr LGA of Cross River State.


In the morning, the men, go into the forest to uproot a specific kind of tree, drag it along the road to the palace.

Receive blessings from the palace, then step into the streets in the afternoon/evening with their white attire.

The ladies move alongside with the men, also dressed in white.

The men dressed in a white wrapper, looking like a traditional herbalist, chanting and shouting "Hand Lobo". They move about pating people at the back, believing that each hand that's been touched on anyone signifies blessings.

You're not to reject their touch because you are rejecting the blessings they came with from the palace.🙂

Most people take advantage of this opportunity to beat up people on the road, they won't give you a light touch but beat you heavily, using their hands or a cane.


My Dad said when he was younger, he always retaliated😄.
I just watched them from afar today.
