I do automatic scan on my tv i was able to watch some free to air channel like wazobia and many more channel which i could not remember their name. i was suprise beause i do not have dish and decoder i am not even sure whether the tv have inbuilt decoder just normal antenna but my enjoyment was cut short when nepa took light when nepa brough back light i lost those channel please who know how i can get those channel back i have try everything is not working i have remove my antenna from is normal position to another no show. I have even face the antenna to east west north south no show can some tell me the magic or technology behind why those channel why showing before and not showing again

I think it's what your neighbors around you are watching that you're also watching, so it would only show when you scan your tv, only whenever your neighbors put on their decoder. you are using their decoder indirectly. Your TV technology allows that to happen

Go tv and Startimes have the license to show them, they encrypted the channels so that you can't watch them for free.

But terrestrial stations are free to watch in Europe and America.

I once tried it, actually got a DVB/T2 from AliExpress that shows terrestrial channels for 12k, I thought I could watch Naija channels for free, I got disappointed, the decoder had a strong reception of all the channels in Nigeria but they were encrypted except Wazobia, Gotv info channel, star times info channel, Wazobia radio and one Rtv something that was test running their station then they've gone off air now though.

All I'm trying to say is that our govt has sold the terrestrial tv license to Go tv and Startimes, if you could watch them for free they would go out of business.

You can only watch channels close to your house for free using old technology, UHF and VHF and not DVB/T.

Since this is about TV stations let me also share my experience. Sometimes back in 2001 I once gained access to about 5 dstv/lion dish csnt really remember the precise dish it was. But I remember adding umbrella iron strand pointin the sky. I got about 8 different channels. Later I realise i was on clmmev5ed to someone's dstv. But what baffles me is that I got about 8 channels at a go. This goes on for like a year plus but packed out of that house.

Yes. Those tiny strand iron was added to the antenna ( the old rotational antena to be precise) Connected positive wire to it.

How it comes to happens supercede my understanding but I used it for several months before packing out of that area
