I didn't know…

I didn't understand…

I only figured it out when I stepped into the same calling you were first called into.

The calling of motherhood!

I only just understood why you snapped at almost everything. The reason you screamed at any little offense.

It was a buildup of frustration, anxiety and stress of not having things under control.

I now understand why you were almost always grouchy.

You were de#ad tired and felt underappreciated.

I realize now why you said you'd play with me but almost never did. I see now that you just wanted a minute to catch your breath.

It no longer puzzles me why you seemed to come alive while with your peers but looked sullen while at home.

It was your need for adult communion because being with kids day in day out has the propensity to drain you.

Then I approached the teenage years and I never could understand why you always worried whenever I had to leave your presence.

It was because you loved me more than life itself and couldn't bring yourself to the thought of me getting hurt.

Becoming a mother gave me a 360 change of perspective and it made me love you more!

And even more, it's made me redefine the kind of mother I need to be!
