The Iri-Ji (new yam) Festival is a time of thanksgiving to the God for making the farm yields possible and praying for good yields for the next planting season. This event is an important event in the calendar of Igbo people all over the world.

The AMAETITI people of Orumba-North L.G.A, of Anambra State, are calling on people of good will from all round the globe to join us in this year’s new yam festival, 8th to 10th of September, 2023. There would be display of diverse cultural dance and merriment of our diverse native foods and natural Palm wine etc.

Come one, come all, as it would really worth it, as usual.

Umuegbuo Village, Amaetiti Town, Orumba North LGA, Anambra State, Nigeria.

In a bid to shed light on an ongoing land dispute between Umuegbuo village of Amaetiti town in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State and segments of Gbalagu village in Okpeze town, we, the entire people of Umuegbuo, wish to formally announce to the general public that this contentious matter is currently under legal scrutiny at the highest court in Nigeria - the Supreme Court.
This dispute, which has lingered for some decades, has caused significant concern and unrest within our community. It is our duty to inform the public about the legal proceedings and the implications that surround this matter.
First and foremost, we want to make it unequivocally clear that any individual, group, or association that engages in activities such as purchasing, building, or claiming ownership of any portion of the Umuegbuo land does so entirely at their own risk. This land is currently a subject of legal litigation, and any actions taken on it without the knowledge of the court proceedings may result in severe legal consequences.
Furthermore, we implore and beseech the Anambra State Government of Nigeria, as well as all well-meaning Nigerians and the global community, to come to our aid and support us in resolving this dispute. The Anambra State Government has, through its White Paper, conclusively determined that the boundary between Amaetiti and Okpeze is the Mamu River. We firmly believe that this determination should serve as a basis for a peaceful resolution to this conflict.
Our plea is rooted in the desire for a peaceful coexistence with our neighbours in Gbalagu village, Okpeze town. We firmly believe that a harmonious resolution to this dispute is possible, one that respects the boundaries set by the Anambra State Government's White Paper.
It is our sincere hope that this matter can be resolved amicably and justly through the legal process currently underway at the Supreme Court. We welcome dialogue, mediation, and cooperation as we strive for a lasting solution that promotes peace and unity among our communities.
In conclusion, we urge all stakeholders, both within and outside Anambra State, to support our cause in seeking a peaceful resolution to this land dispute. We remain committed to upholding the rule of law and are confident that the Supreme Court's verdict will provide clarity and justice in this matter.
Let us all work together to ensure that the spirit of unity and cooperation prevails, paving the way for a brighter and more harmonious future for Gbalagu village, Okpeze town and Umuegbuo village, Amaetiti town,.
