Jesus Never Existed - Kenneth Humphreys: An Ex-Member Of MaxInDHouse's Orgarnisation God Almighty of the Old Testament that gave the Ten Commandments is the only True God. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_TDgTebF_Y Transcript 0:00 what did we actually know about Jesus 0:03 Christ the man 0:06 what we don't find is this person who 0:10 appears as some sort of Specter within 0:13 that that historical tableau called 0:15 Jesus he doesn't have a mark at all now 0:19 that is a dilemma for those who believe 0:21 in him because on the one hand he 0:24 supposedly overturned that the world it 0:28 turned the world upside down and 0:29 triggered off this massive movement but 0:32 on the other hand he leaves no trace in 0:34 historical record it should be said 0:37 although it's kept from the believing 0:41 millions theologians have cast doubts on 0:44 the official story for more than a 0:47 hundred years 0:50 there used to be a huge amount of 0:54 evidence historical evidence for Jesus 0:56 there there was evidence of the cross 0:59 there was evidence of the nails that he 1:01 was held by the to the cross with you 1:03 know now why is it that this sort of 1:07 evidence is no longer presented as 1:09 evidence of Jesus it worked for hundreds 1:12 of years well of course we know the 1:14 answer it was all fraudulent it was all 1:18 manufactured by the church to encourage 1:21 belief in their fairy story now that is 1:24 all now been whittled away apart from 1:28 certain back waters 1:31 the Gospels are not analogous to history 1:36 they are analogous to historical fiction 1:38 in other words a drama has been has been 1:42 inserted into an historical setting the 1:45 emphasis is totally different 1:47 the it's an unreal drama if you think 1:50 about the Gospels they are almost 1:52 primarily concerned with the last week 1:54 of Jesus's life the passion you know it 1:57 is that it takes up most of the material 1:59 it is simply a drama inserted into a 2:03 more or less realistic historical 2:06 background what I think we can say 2:09 regarding the Gospels is that they show 2:11 a decided Pro Roman bias 2:17 let's paint the scene then Rome is that 2:21 is the great and emerging imperial power 2:25 it colonized the East as the Eastern 2:28 Empire of of Greece declined in in the 2:33 areas it took over it used in the first 2:36 phase client kings in other words it 2:39 found those members of the local 2:42 aristocracy that would collaborate with 2:45 Rome and they would happily do so 2:47 because Rome preserved their position so 2:50 the classic example of it is of course 2:52 the Herodian family Herod was a Roman 2:55 puppet but Herod ruled his own provinces 2:58 in his own way and with a rod of iron 3:02 religion was very important in the Roman 3:05 world although they had a secular 3:09 dimension to their life religion was all 3:11 pervasive in the sense that gods and 3:14 their shrines were everywhere they there 3:17 was no question in the minds of nearly 3:19 everybody at that time that there were 3:22 gods 3:22 gods made their presence felt all the 3:25 time whether it be in earthquakes or 3:27 thunderstorms it in diseases and so on 3:31 gods were ever-present the one thing you 3:33 had to do with a God was keep them on 3:36 your side you made a sacrifice you hoped 3:39 that their capricious behavior wouldn't 3:41 fall badly on you religion also was very 3:45 tolerant in the Roman system the Romans 3:48 and all polytheists embraced the idea 3:52 that they were that divinity was divided 3:56 that there were gods of many different 3:58 descriptions when the Romans conquered a 4:01 province they didn't try and annihilate 4:04 their religion they didn't insist that 4:06 they abduct Rome's religion they merely 4:09 took that religion into their system 4:13 they merely assimilated it allowing that 4:17 what you call a God by one name we call 4:20 by another name and they had no problem 4:23 with that 4:23 you think of the most impressive temple 4:25 that stands in Rome the pantheon it was 4:27 the temple to all the gods they they had 4:31 no exclusivity about it you had to keep 4:33 all the gods or as many of them as you 4:35 could on your side now the only time 4:39 that Rome seems to have had a problem at 4:42 the two ends of the Empire with the 4:44 Druids in Britain and the Jews in 4:47 Palestine you know that's where the 4:50 roamed Rome came against a oppositional 4:53 religions now with the Druids they just 4:56 annihilated the Druids they destroyed 4:58 their shrines and ended it probably 5:02 existed underground but essentially they 5:04 raised that religion now this was the 5:06 big problem for Judaism when it at felf 5:09 our Rome as a result of not one but 5:11 three rebellions yeah things Jewish were 5:15 not 5:16 viewed favorably and that's why here is 5:19 a big MBA of the big kickstart for 5:23 Christianity moving further into the 5:25 Roman world 5:28 now where does that originate it 5:30 originates in the happy example for the 5:33 Jews of resisting and ultimately 5:36 expelling the Greeks the Greeks had run 5:39 the area before the Romans arrived and 5:41 under a group of renegade priests there 5:45 was a rebellion known as the Maccabee 5:47 rebellion the in the Maccabean wars the 5:49 Greeks were expelled and this gave a 5:52 type an anticipation about under the 5:56 Roman period also someone could come 5:59 along priests come King come prophet who 6:02 would rescue the Jews again that's where 6:06 the basis of the Messianic prophecies 6:08 come from a military leader a human 6:14 person not another god man but a human 6:17 who would lead the Jews to triumph so 6:19 their interpretation of Messiah was very 6:23 much in that traditional Maccabee and 6:25 sense of someone who would be a king and 6:28 a military leader who would throw out 6:30 the oppressors the Christian version of 6:32 that same story is of course very 6:34 different it's a collaboration is sort 6:36 of Messiah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTmZlckcwMY |
