2face, D’banj, P-square – Who Was The Biggest Artiste Of Their Era? by MyVILLAGEpeople(m): 9:16pm On Sep 10, 2023 |
About 15 years ago, the competition that occurred in the Nigerian music industry was not overly limited to certain people unlike it is now. During that era, there were a number of artistes who were very big and created keen competition for each other. We had the likes of 2face, D’banj, P-square, 9ice, Darey, Olu Maintain and a few more. However, of all these artistes, there were three who stood out as ultimately the biggest of that era. 2face, D’banj & P-square were certainly the commandants of the Nigerian music industry. Although they were all very big, people still argue a lot when they are obliged to narrow down to one the biggest artiste of that era. This makes a lot of people say 2face was biggest of all, some say it was D’banj while others say it definitely was P-square who was biggest. This therefore has in some way caused an argument over here too, and in a way to help us put the argument to rest and have your opinion on the topic as well, we would like to know who you think was biggest. 2face, D’banj, P-square – Who was the biggest artiste of their era?

Dbanj wasn't as big as he's being portrayed. He was a superstar no doubt but hits by hits, he's nowhere near any of Psquare or 2face. Infact Wande Coal was more of a star in Mohits than Dbanj was. He was just the face with no real talents which explains his complete demise after leaving the Label 2 Likes |

Nbote: You lie. Dbanj was mohits and mohits was Dbanj. He was releasing back to back hit whilst at mohits with Don Jazzy just doing cameo appearances. Don jazzy was the behind the scene guy and Dbanj was the face of mohits. 2face Dbanj Psquare |

Dbanj 2Face Psquare. However P2 were a complete package because they could dance. That DBanj Feature with Snoop Dogg on Mr. Endowed and On top of the world that he sang at African Nation cup were mad ooo. Apart from the like of Asa he was one of those artist that American labels wanted to co-sign. Kanye and Jay Z, that move was instrumental to breaking mohit. All this signing by Warner and Universal music of Mayorkun and Ckee. Was what he started to enjoy at the ending era of his career. Plenty people be wan be Dbanj that year, He equally had an influence on fashion in that era compared to the remaining two. |

Guys keep sentiments aside. The biggest music artistes of that era was P-Square. Tuface was celebrated as the face of Afro-Hiphop then. Some of his albums were dry. Dbanj lost his mojo after his exit from working with Don Jazzy. As for PSquare, they kept on doing banger after banger untill the women in their lives took over their emotions. Some notable mentions include Timaya, Flavour(he held down the entire SE, nobody came close), 9ice and Olu Maintain. |
