Footballers and athletes try their best to avoid substance abuse as a result of the constant doping tests they are always subjected to, Paul pogba comes to mind.

But the musicians and artists even sing about their reckless lifestyles and glorify their drug habit like it’s nobody’s business and it always pays off on the long run. Whether good or bad, I will let you be the Judge.

Truth is the substance abuse in the industry goes unchecked so these musicians go on a drug spree like their lives depends on it. Whether it gives them inspiration in the studio, I can’t say. Then there is the other “deal with the devil” stories we always hear for fame and fortune in exchange for something dear to you like a short lifespan.

1. Sportsmen in general, not only footballers engage in physical exercise. Exercise keeps the body and soul fit. It contributes to having a long life.

Majority of the musicians take drugs.
There is regulation of drug usage in professional sporting activities. You can not take some drugs if you are an active sportsman because there is punishment for that. Unlike in music where drug use isn’t regulated. In fact, performance enhancing drugs are use and these have adverse effects on the body system.
Moreover, the rigorous physical activities done by sportmen get rids of some of these drugs faster from the body unlike the musician who do relatively less physical activities.

Furthermore, musicians can do anything and go reckless to “blow” or be famous and retain the fame. But sportmen needs some iota of discipline to be successful and retain the success for long.

Stop taking illicit drugs and you will live long.

They still die. Antonio Puerta, Marc Vivien foe, Jose Antonio Reyes etc died when they were active
