A Question On Tithing by LilMissFavvy(f): 12:44pm On Sep 16, 2023
Is it correct t0 use 0ne's tithe t0 buy s0mething f0r children wh0 are in need? I need an answer t0 the question and if p0ssible a scripture to backup. The person believes in tithing in church, but she wants to know if it can also be used for the above purpose.
Re: A Question On Tithing by Wodu89: 12:46pm On Sep 16, 2023
Yes. Throughout the scripture God says bring your tithes in commodities form and eat in my presence. This was the ordination before money was formed. This is also right because it takes away the temptation of greed in care of individuals handling such

If your boss gives your wages to children on the street in the name of tithing would you consider it right?

There will be monetary needs for nonfood related issues. We need cash for such occassions

I think you are missing the point.

God is a king, not an elected president.

When a king decrees, it continues till he says otherwise.

We dont serve God with our opinions... So it is wrong to give it to people in need

Oh, the scripture is wrong right here then.

Deuteronomy 14 v 22-29. Pay attention to verses 28 & 29

22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year.

23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the Lord your God always.

24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the Lord your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the Lord will choose to put his Name is so far away),

25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose.

26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice.

27 And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own.

28 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns,

29 so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

According to God's law the tithes are meant to be taken to the temple for the Levites and the Levites will also pay tithes so it's out of what the Levites pay that widows, orphans and homeless people will eat.

So back in Israel these three don't pay tithes:

WIDOWS
ORPHANS
HOMELESS

Today the tithes collected by religionists claiming Christians is not biblical because we no longer operates with Levites rather followers of Christ were commanded by Christ to take good care of our fellow believers! John 13:34-35
So there can't be beggars in the midst of God's people again! Psalms 23:1

If you eat all of it, what tithe would you have to give the levites? Numbers 18:21.

His argument is not to give tithe to those in need.

Deuteronomy 14 v 29 disproves that. As it should be shared with the levites, widows and orphans.

Since they claimed the invented christianity came from the Jews question to ask now are:
1. Do Jews give tithes today
and
2. If not, why have the Jews stopped giving tithes today?

Tithing, in addition to the Temple tax, was part of the Old Covenant Tax System set up by God for the children of Israel. undecided
11 The Lord said to Moses,
12 “Count the Israelites so that you will know how many people there are. Every time this is done, each man must make a payment for himself to the Lord so that nothing terrible will happen to the people.
13 Each man who is counted must pay 1/2 shekel of silver. (That is 1/2 shekel by the official measure. This shekel weighs 20 gerahs.[c]) This half shekel is an offering to the Lord.
14 Every man who is at least 20 years old must be counted. And every man who is counted must give the Lord this offering.
15 The rich must not give more than 1/2 shekel, and the poor must not give less than 1/2 shekel. All people will make the same offering to the Lord. This will be a payment for your life.
16 Gather this money from the Israelites. Use the money for the service in the Meeting Tent. This payment will be a way for the Lord to remember his people. They will be paying for their own lives.” - Exodus 30 vs 11 - 16

Those of you who pay tithes/taxes in the name of Jesus Christ deny yourselves sonship with God by your acts of disobedienceundecided
24 Jesus and his followers went to Capernaum. There the men who collect the two-drachma Temple tax came to Peter and asked, “Does your teacher pay the Temple tax?”
25 Peter answered, “Yes, he does.” Peter went into the house where Jesus was. Before Peter could speak,

Jesus said to him, “The kings on the earth get different kinds of taxes from people. But who are those who pay the taxes? Are they the king’s children? Or do other people pay the taxes? What do you think?”
26 Peter answered, “The other people pay the taxes.”
Jesus said, “Then the children of the king don’t have to pay taxes - Matthew 17 vs 24 - 26
As Jesus Christ made clear, the Children of God do not pay taxes/Tithe in His name. undecided

You are however commanded to pay your taxes to the Government --- you don't pay taxes to the government in the name of Jesus Christ. undecided
20 Then he asked, “Whose picture is on the coin? And whose name is written on the coin?”
21 They answered, “It is Caesar’s picture and Caesar’s name.” Then Jesus said to them, “Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.”
22 When they heard what Jesus said, they were amazed. They left him and went away. - Matthew 22 vs 20 -22

And who are the Levites in Christianity?
I am sure your answer will be your pastors. cheesy

Now what was the major characteristics of the levite tribe of isreal?
They were consecrated to serve in the temple, and they owned no possesions to their names.

How many cars, houses, cash etc does your pastors have to their names?

If you can answer the above truthfully you will know how much of a scam the principle of tithing is In christiandom.

Putting that aside, whatsoever wasn't in the foundation of Christianity which you have gone to put into it today is nothing short of an abberation to please your fleshy desires.

The foundational principle installed by the early undiluted church of Christ to raise funds for the church was "free giving and raising of offerings". No one was compelled to give a tenth of his/her earnings to reap any particular imaginary blessings /curse.
They needed money to a great deal, Paul needed funds for his several travels and ministry. Every church of those days had several poor, several widows , several sick who needed financial help, Yet not for once was the issue of tithing the members EVER brought up.
But today, you have jumped into the old testament to drag it out and push it into the church.

The Law is always The Law even if people disobey it. No different from The Law of fornication (whorrdom) or tattoos which people are now accustomed to disregarding them.

Let's take a trip into the laws which you want to put urself under. grin

Exodus 22, let's start from
16
If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife. 17 If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he must still pay the bride-price for virgins.

18 “Do not allow a sorceress to live.

19 “Anyone who has sexual relations with an animal is to be put to death.

20 “Whoever sacrifices to any god other than the Lord must be destroyed.[e]

21 “Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you were foreigners in Egypt.

22 “Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. 23 If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. 24 My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.

25 “If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not treat it like a business deal; charge no interest. 26 If you take your neighbor’s cloak as a pledge, return it by sunset, 27 because that cloak is the only covering your neighbor has. What else can they sleep in? When they cry out to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.

28 “Do not blaspheme God[f] or curse the ruler of your people.

29 “Do not hold back offerings from your granaries or your vats.[g]

“You must give me the firstborn of your sons. 30 Do the same with your cattle and your sheep. Let them stay with their mothers for seven days, but give them to me on the eighth day.

31 “You are to be my holy people. So do not eat the meat of an animal torn by wild beasts; throw it to the dogs.

This is less than a hundredth of the laws which was given to the isrealites. Among which is Tithing.
Since you so love the laws please endevour to pick everyone of them out and practice them so that you won't be punished by God. grin
Re: A Question On Tithing by Porksupplyib: 12:11pm On Sep 17, 2023
I find it interesting that people claim to have the bible, but just refuse to read for themselves. You are not practicing mosaic laws. You are Christians. Read the scriptures and see what was practiced by the foundational christians. If Moses laws and life was good enough, Christ won't have come. Christ won't have died for the world.

Well, it is left to you to do as you please with your life and salvation.

Or when your neighbour is a witch are you not agitated and concerned?

Or if you see a man fûcking a goat won't you bash him?

Just say you have no answer. Your attempt to turn it on me is in vain for clearly all these Laws you stated we already do them. No one announces 'i am a witch". No ibo man worshipped his Amadioha in Sango land. You do sneaky sneaky to have sex with a person's daughter so that you do not get into trouble. All these contained in The Law.

So just say that you could not refute my response so you thought to switch the burden on me but E no work! grin grin grin grin

So rest. There is nothing valid for you to say.
