How is plaiting hair effeminate?

And if you consider plaiting hair by black men to be effeminate, then it means growing of long hair by white men is also effeminate, yet those same white men grew long hair in the Bible, including Jesus.

Stop trying to twist Bible scriptures just so they can suit your own scenario.. What you're doing is demonizing the black race, which is what the white race wanted from the beginning when they introduced Christianity to Africans.

You are welcome.

The Bible does not set out for Christians a list of rules on dress, grooming, and hygiene. Jehovah has no desire to deny us our freedom of choice or the use of our thinking faculties. Rather, he wants us to become mature people who reason on Bible principles and who “through use have their powers of discernment trained to distinguish both right and wrong.” (Hebrews 5:14) Above all, he wants us to be governed by love—love for God and neighbor. (Read Mark 12:30, 31.) Within those boundaries, there is the potential for great variety in dress and grooming.

Even the Bible has been edited so many times with lots of things shredded as it's being translated from centuries back.

I doubt if Jesus was on low cut, and his disciples. Although catholic popes don't keep hair….could be because they’re old men. I'm not looking to argue with anyone, it's just a simple reasoning.

There's time for everything, when we’re all going bald, no one will advise to keep a clean shave. Just as nature takes place.

Judging others could be a sin, no one is perfect except God.

Move on with life, and work together in love with our various flaws to achieving a greater good.

John the baptist.
Some others made a vow and a requires demands that you leave your hair uncut until

How many Nazirites do you know in the Bible? What were the conditions of being a Nazirite? How many people today can submit to Nazirite demands? Are Nazirites Christians?
Go on and keep deluding yourself.

Israel wanted to be like the cultures around them. Where did it lead them to? To captivity, to death and alienation from Jehovah.
What makes you think that the outcome will be different today?
God is not compelling anyone to become Christian. If you want to be a Christian, then God has given us his Word.
I keep wondering that people who present your kind of argument don't pour water into their tank instead of petrol or diesel since there is water everywhere.

From a Christian standpoint, the historical account of Israel's journey in the Old Testament serves as a lesson about the importance of faithfulness and obedience to God's commands. The consequences faced by Israel were a result of their disobedience and turning away from God, not simply their desire to adopt elements of other cultures.

Today, Christians believe that faith in Jesus Christ is a personal choice and that God does not compel anyone to become a Christian. Instead, Christians believe in sharing the message of God's Word and the teachings of Jesus with others in the hope that they might accept and embrace the faith willingly.

The analogy of pouring water into a tank meant for petrol or diesel is metaphorical and not directly related to religious beliefs. It's important to approach matters of faith with an open heart and respectful dialogue, recognizing that people have diverse beliefs and perspectives.

Good day
Your Bible quotation is right
However if you study romans 14 and 1 cor 8

You would understand that being right has a limit

What I mean is this : Paul said that I would never eat meat if it will cause a brother to stumble
And note that Paul said that eating meat offered to idol was not wrong
1 cor 11 vs 14 said that its disgraceful for a man to carry long hair

Thank you
I see you're quoting the Bible to make a point about being right and wrong. But I think you're missing the context and the message of those verses. Let me explain.

Romans 14 and 1 Corinthians 8 are about the issue of eating food sacrificed to idols. Paul is addressing the Christians who have different opinions on this matter. Some think it's okay to eat anything, because they know that idols are nothing and there is only one God. Others think it's wrong to eat anything associated with idols, because they have a weak conscience and feel guilty. Paul says that both groups are right in their own faith, but they should not judge or despise each other. He also says that they should not cause each other to stumble by their actions. He gives an example of himself, saying that he would rather not eat meat at all than make his brother sin.

1 Corinthians 11:14 is not about eating food sacrificed to idols, but about the proper conduct of men and women in worship. Paul is talking about the cultural norms and customs of his time, where long hair for men and short hair for women were considered dishonorable and shameful. He says that nature itself teaches us that it is disgraceful for a man to have long hair. But he also says that this is not a commandment from God, but a matter of tradition and preference.

So, what's the point of all this? Paul is not saying that being right has a limit, or that there are no absolute moral standards. He is saying that being right is not enough, if it does not show love and respect for others. He is saying that being right should not lead to pride, arrogance or division, but to humility, service and unity. He is saying that being right should not be an excuse to ignore or offend the weaker ones, but to help them grow and mature in faith. Being right should not be a reason to impose our views or preferences on others, but to accept them as they are in Christ.

So, don't use the Bible to justify your opinions or criticize others.

This is not the 100 percent truth, read your bibles and ask The Holy Spirit to show you the truth in understanding. I will do the same.

I am prone to errors too.

okay, then there is no issue yes, i could err and go my own way so its good to correct me, praise God.

I dont feel condemned. And if i am wrong please God forgive me and help to correct myself.

What i was saying is, Adam and Eve were naked and they were not ashamed, now i have heard someone say, the glory of God was their clothing, not sure about that, but everything God has made is good, Men plaiting their hair is not wrong, if the people do not see it as wrong and if it does not lead them to sin. This is where human corrupted perception can corrupt what is good. And if its a weakness then they should not do such things. I say this based on the regulations of eating meat and how Paul explained human weaknesses.

I have seen people with tattoos become the best Christians or more Christlike than those who like to present an outward form of godliness, now is presentation wrong, no, what i mean is, its the inward part that counts and its from the mind that sin originates and takes form. So it is not the tattoo or no tattoo that sanctifies, its not the plaiting or non plaiting of hair that counts, its the understanding and the light of the mind. Which Christ is the light of our mind and we are renewed daily. I dont know if i correctly stated it

So if we are bothered by all this regulations, we may be falling back to the laws and may become trapped by the power of Sin

That is why you see people who are religious pretend to be godly, they go around Judging others, except they dont take the wood from their eyes, and then they want to impress others, and then they go around judging other's without showing mercy. They always fight and cause quarrels.

They forget what counts, love God with your whole being and be like your Father in heaven, and believe in the one he sent.

IF we love God, then we will love our brothers and sisters and every human being.

Apologies but our way of thoughts as Africans sef.. So plaiting hair mean one's not Holy! We tend to judge too much and that's why we are far behind. How does hair plaiting determine a kind hearted or a lovely person?

The British brought in Christainity, I've been to many of their churches and you see the pastors and Reverend having tattoos, and piercings. Their female wearing tight clothing to church. Those are even the elders o, you rarely see the youths in church cos dem for don go hustle. Their assistant, even young pastors doing dreadlocks and plaiting hair.

The westerners used religion as a weapon and we became enslaved to it. Dem don brainwash us. The same people who claim Polygamy is a sin says gayism and lesbianism is no sin.

You want a white man's religion but you don't want their way of life?

As far as I can tell, there's nothin' in the Bible that says Christians can't have their hair in any particular way.

The idea that a Christian's appearance should be a certain way to "preach" or "convince" others seems a bit backwards, if ya ask me. After all, the Bible says that "man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7)

Unfortunately you will see appearance first before character. A Christian should be modest in dressing and appearance. And no, a man braiding his hair is not modest. It's pop culture popularized by black ghettos and later by r n b musicians.

Who is your role model? A very important question to ask

Why will a man even want to plait (braid) his hair?

Let's leave Christianity out of it first, can anybody please tell my why men suddenly started braiding their hair?

This is a thing previously exclusive to women and certain men for strictly ritual purposes and positions in African culture.

In Ancient Yorubaland, not every man was free to braid his hair. Only priests and devotees of Sango did (and still do) it. It was taboo for just any dude to do it even then, before we had Christianity.

Okay, why not ask if it's all right for a "genuine Christian man" to wear a dress, or lipstick?

No "genuine Christian" will even consider such nonsense, to say even less of asking about it.

Just perfect!

Doesn't having the ability to grow long hair and fingernails like a woman equally make a man effeminate? Or is it until he styles the hair then automatically he becomes effeminate?

Definition of effeminate:
(with reference to a man) having characteristics and ways of behaving traditionally associated with women and regarded as inappropriate for a man.

: having feminine qualities untypical of a man : not manly in appearance or manner. 2. : marked by an unbecoming delicacy or overrefinement. effeminate art. an effeminate civilization.

If plaiting hair makes a man effeminate, does having dreads make a woman masculine?

It is a shame for men to braid their hair.

1 Cor. 11 V 7-16

7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

Verse 14 says that nature or in the natural setting it’s a shame or abnormal for a man to have long hair. Having braids/locks would indicate of long hair.

Don't twist the bible, having long hair is different from having braided hair. The bible said having a man having long hair is a shame, braiding wasn't mentioned at all regarding men.
Stop where the bible stops. If you add a word to the bible, all the curses in the bible will be added to you.

Rev 18 vs 22 If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
