I've experienced such... but it's only in Yoruba tradition I know dat one... the effectiveness is what I don't know? And refusal to do it I don't know? But I keep wondering, why is it that here in Nigeria, when we do something that goes against our tradition, some people say there'll be repercussions...and in future, any little stumbling block in life, we attribute it to that .. But when we do exactly according to tradition, our god's will bless us... YET WE STILL REMAIN POOR AND STILL SUFFERING... Na wa o 1 Like |

Tayorshd87:I don't think it's peculiar to yoruba culture alone U can make findings from the elders from ur tribe, they will tell u more, they can even share an experience with u. The problem with we youth is dhat we don't seek knowledge from the elders, we think we know more than them just because we went to the uni. 1 Like |

Just imagine. She didn't advice her to take the baby to the hospital to make sure she's okay, but na to tell her to parade around the neighborhood naked. Foolishness. I hope the mother at least has the sense to take her baby to the hospital to get her checked out. That is something she doesn't even need to be told before doing. 2 Likes |

tonicyril: See this moronic village boy. One of my sisters accidentally fell off of my mother's back during her infancy, but today, she's happily married with kids. So, a girl child who falls off her mother's back in your village won't be able to marry and bear children in the future, but another that suffers the same incident in France, for instance, will be able to marry and have kids. Who's responsible for implementing these consequences/penalties? God? Satan? Your powerless ancestors who couldn't solve their basic problems?? Do you guys reason at all?? Dumbheaded superstitious believers like you are the reason Africa is not making any technological headway even in the 21st century. |

Call it stupid tradition; call it superstition... personally, I believe this "stupid tradition" has been saving lives for decades now! Do you know how careful mothers are with babies because of this superstition? Do you know how many babies this superstition has saved from falling off their mum's or nanny's backs? Whenever women remember the supposed danger attached to the baby falling from their back, they tie their wrappers stronger. This was most likely made up to protect babies back in the days...falling from the back is a big deal and should be avoided at all cost. I hope in this case the baby got a check up |
