The Lagos state police command has inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe the death of Mohbad.

The fast-rising singer, 27, passed away on Tuesday. He was laid to rest on Wednesday.

The circumstance surrounding his death has continued to spark controversies on social media.

The police earlier said it would probe the matter and mentioned the possibility of exhuming Mohbad’s corpse.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Monday, Idowu Owohunwa, the state commissioner of police, vowed that the command will use all its powers to fish out everyone indicted in the case.

“Do not forget, we have unique access with INTERPOL,” he said.

“Everybody linked to the death of Mohbad will be identified and they will be brought to establish their level of involvement.”

Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father who also attended the press briefing, earlier revealed that his son died after an auxiliary nurse was invited to inject him.

Omowunmi, the partner of Mohbad, also recounted the singer’s struggles when he was alive.

More than 250,000 people have called for the ban of Marlian Records, the music label owned by Naira Marley, following the death of Mohbad.

Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, was in a faceoff with his former label boss — before his death.

Naira Marley also mourned Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music, while joining the call for a probe into his demise.

“As we share our condolences to the late Mohbad, we would like to echo a call for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death,” Marley’s statement reads in part.

“We’re unhappy and unsettled with everything we have witnessed since Tuesday the 12th Sept. We owe it to Mohbad to assist with uncovering any foul play or injustice. Our brother deserved a better send off, it saddens us that we couldn’t assist with providing a befitting burial. We will continue our efforts to reach out to the family.

“We urge our colleagues in the media to treat this matter with the utmost sensitivity, respect and care. We publicly appeal to the authorities to do due diligence and we will work closely to support those handling the matter. Finally urge the online community to refrain from circulating damaging accusations that could compromise the investigation.”
