Honestly speaking, I think this issue of high food cost does not totally rest on government's hands. To some extent, it depends on average citizens like us and it's these citizens that cause price hike. How can a merchant buy some 17k and sell 60k in few months? Over profiteering on top your fellow Nigerian heads. It's not fair. No be every time government, we sef the citizens get problems making life unbearable for the rest. |

Ogonimilitant: I don't agree with you. Food is generally cheaper in Benue and Taraba state. They're neighbours. The two states can feed Nigeria without any hassle if our government is serious. 1 Like |

And we say we have a ministry of agriculture. What are the other state commissioners of health doing doing if this is right in terms of moving food around. Propaganda is all I see! |

Even as the article proclaimed the content as been reported, some people still pronounce a vivid disbelieve of it. It would amaze you when you discover these same people don't get sceptical about BAD news on which they celebrate and/or display their wicked notions, hating and cursing everything and everybody who/ich has different interest/opinion/pointer from theirs. And, what's more? They don't verify the truism (of any news)and when their celebrated propaganda turns up obvious (as untrue that it is), they even don't feel apologetic (to anyone for all said and/or done). They behave like the commanders of all social and vocal spaces. Like others are less human, less intelligent than them. May GOD help us against them. @OP, this is a welcome development. Hoping other farming states record similar success too so that the inflation rate will crash and standard of living will improve. |

Thumbs 👍🏾 for the Taraba folks. These are the types of people the government should help and encourage by providing good access roads and rural electrification, good seeds and finance etc. 2 Likes |

ElSudani:lolz. nawa oo i am talking about feeding the nation and exporting our farm produce to other countries so that the Exchange rate will drop and the naira strong again, u are here using a luck in yield in taraba as an example for me did u read where it was stated that people are already doing panic buying and the price will skyrocket again in the next few days? |
Re: Prices Of Foodstuff Crash In Taraba - Daily Trust by ElSudani: 4:29pm On Sep 20, 2023 |
NotProphet: I see a lot of posts on nairaland about people complaining about hunger and the prices of food. Imagine if what is happening in Taraba can be replicated in just about half of the states in Nigeria. Prices of food will immediately drop and all these people who are hungry will have a reprieve. This is the stepping stone to scaling up production before we can start talking about exports. You can't run before you can walk. |

The price in the farm is not the problem, the problem is the price when it reaches the final market. Transportation cost. Taxation. Police extortion. Army settlement. Agboro settlement. Herdsmen settlement. Marketers gain. Effect of fuel subsidy. Bad roads. Insecurity Etc. All these will have Effect on the price of the goods. |
Re: Prices Of Foodstuff Crash In Taraba - Daily Trust by Gaskiya77: 5:11pm On Sep 20, 2023 |
There is no any government effort attached to this drop in price. This is farmers effort and the law of demand and supply. The government watch and do nothing while prices of goods and services skyrocket. Imagine a bag of fertilizer sold at almost N30000. Only in Nigeria can this happened. God help us. |

You look at Taraba closely and wonder why Benue is called “Food Basket of the Nation” apart from (maybe ) yam. Taraba should be both “Natures gift to the Nation and Food basket” Mambilla is so chilled mehn!! |

It's left for the state government to subsidize transport arrangements at getting them to the market if them actually want this good news to reach the people. What usually make things expensive in Nigeria is high cost of transportation |

GYBABA:the govt has power to remedy it. They give a lot of farming input to the farmers and so can demand they sell substantial quantity back to given grain reserves to beat middlemen who inflate prices. |
