The Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu has asked his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki for forgiveness amid the ongoing political impasse in Edo.

Shaibu made the call on Thursday in Benin while addressing journalists shortly after receiving members of the Catholic Men Organisation of Nigeria (CMON) who were on a courtesy visit to his office.

According to the deputy governor, both him and his principal, the Governor, need to come back together as it was in the past to finish well on the 'project Edo' both leaders started together.

His words: “Like I always tell people, I am a loyal servant, there is nothing that has changed, I took a personal vow to support the Governor, and you can see my Catholic people are here, everything about me if I have a vow with God, there is nothing that will change it.

“And I can only wish that the relationship that we had in the next few days and weeks, I know it will come back.

“I’m missing my governor really and by the grace of God, I know God will touch the governor’s heart and touch all of us and even those that are trying to be in between God will touch them to know that I mean well.

“If there is any mistake that I have made as human, is just human, is not an act of maybe wickedness, because I’m not wicked. I have a very clean heart.

“I will use this medium to appeal to Mr. Governor, if there is anything that I don’t know that I have done, please forgive me, so that we can develop our state together.

”We have just less than how many months, just one year to go. We’ve been the envy of the entire country, it is still possible.

“So Mr Governor, please if there is anything that you think I have done, I am sorry. I need us to work together to finish well and strong because that is my prayer for you.”

On the relocation of his office from the Government House, the Deputy Governor noted that though he has resumed at his new office outside government house as directed by the Governor, the new office is still undergoing some level of renovation.

All I know is that Edo state politicians have a record of backstabbing and betrayal.

Shuaibu can't win the war with Obaseki

He does not have the state lawmakers or the PDP hierarchy supporting him. He can't fight a sitting governor like that

The guy has been rendered useless from performing any official duties, he's now on his own. See him begging like someone without liver. Deputy wey go take over from his boss needs to be submissive totally and allow nature to take it course. If you're destined to become a governor, nothing can stop it though it can tarry for a while.

It is better he begs, dobale and openly admit that he was actually planning to impeach Obaseki then recommend the right way he should be rehabilitated.

I have heard him speak Yoruba fluently so he knows what idobale does and should know how to dobale gbalaja to appease his Boss.

I pray he finds favour before him. It's not like their fight is unexpected since they were bonded together by rikishi and betrayal of their political benefactors.
