MOHBAD: GANGS OF LAGOS IS REAL
The very first time I heard the name Mohbad was after he died. I wondered what all the fuss was about. Why so much noise over some dude I'd never heard about?

Only a few Nigerian artists play what appeals to me. But with what has happened lately, I think I'll have to start listening to more local songs.

I have a question that's been running through my head since I read about this incident and saw some videos.

Who advises a married woman who's being physically assaulted by her husband to stay in the marriage because of the children?

Despite being cheated financially, Mohbad wasn't poor. I understand that he was going to buy the jeep of his dream the week he died.

Why did this dude decide to stay around and endure all the humiliation he was going through?

Shouldn't the law of preservation have made him flee Nigeria to save his life?

When certain things happen to you, it's in your own interest to trust no one but yourself. It's your life.

What this incident has confirmed is the reality of Gangs of Lagos.

When the film Gangs of Lagos came out, certain people in Lagos took the producers of the film to court stating that the film misrepresented the symbol of Lagos, the Eyo. I laughed.

How many residents of Lagos will say they aren't aware that Lagos has an underground system that's scarier than gangsterism?

What we see on the streets is not the actual representation of what's happening in certain quarters.

People go missing completely. No tracing their bodies. Dead bodies on the streets of Lagos are not a strange sight anymore. How many residents of Lagos can say they've never encountered or seen a dead body abandoned on the streets of Lagos?

The Gubernatorial election in Lagos was a perfect example of the existence of state sponsored gangsterism in Lagos.

What are the indices of gangsterism?

Drugs, sex and death!

When you ride on the back of a tiger, you're def going to end up in the belly of the tiger.

I'll be surprised if anyone gets punished for the death of Mohbad. Very surprised.

We are slowly sliding into a dark bottomless pit as a country while many think the mess won't touch them when the shit hits the fan.

Am I supposed to say Rest In Peace Mohbad?

I won't.

For anyone whose life has been cut shut by an evil person, may the deceased not rest in peace until his or her killer gets paid back for the evil deed done.

The impunity with which people take the lives of others in Nigeria should get every sane Nigerian worried.

We need to wake up to our responsibilities as dutiful citizens because it could be the turn of anyone next.
