Done against an innocent child. Like genital mutilations? I would take my parents to court if i had a tribal mark wound inflicted on my face. It would give me a low self esteem for life.

It's not an anyhow mark...
It's not fashion...
Its always specific to a particular place/tribe....
Due to this generation of long lasting peace, the 21st century people doesn't see its importance, but in the past, it was extremely important because the incessant wars (tribal wars) always scatter people... so that mark makes it easy to recognise your people...
Tattoo on the other hand is for fashion.... either permanent or temporary
