Earning can Sometimes be a hectic task, especially when you've decided to do so legitimately. There are restrictions that stop you from doing alot of things and grabbing alot of online opportunities. Nevertheless there's still hope and if you look harder you might just see what you've been missing. I'm here to share useful tips and advice that could be a game changer for those looking to start Earning for themselves. I'm not here to motivate you, and everything I say requires work to give result.
Ways to Earn as a Nigerian Youth
Like I mentioned earlier it's not magic and most of the things to be mentioned require Time, Effort, commitment and Determination to actually make money from.
1. freelancing: If you have an IT skill that you're very good and you're currently not earning from, then you're obviously selling to the wrong Customers. Freelancing platforms like Upwork, Freelancer, Guru and Fiver are open for you to explore and find customers and clients who might need your skill and are willing to pay well for it. the challenge you with these platforms is population, if you have a niche that alot of people are already in to you might struggle to break out. The solution however requires you to have capital and then invest this capital in your portfolio by paying other established freelancers a token to order you and give good reviews to help you rank and stand out by giving your profile an authentic look .. The truth is, to quickly break out on most established and populated freelancing platforms you need Money, wether to buy credits to send proposals or boost sent proposals..
2. Social Media Marketing: I'm not even going to talk about affiliate marketing now because alot of people know about that already. The real thing most youths don't know is that they spend alot of money on the internet doing nothing which is sad. Wether you're a; barber/Hair stylist, graphic designer, Baker, mechanic (whatever Kind), Seller the social media space can be used to your advantage. Let's look at it this way the if you cut down on the way you scroll through endless social media reels you'd save alot of money (the amount will shock you). Instead use this money to revitalize and brand your business. You could either use the extra cash(which is quite Alot if you calculate it) to print a banner and buy an advert space on cheaper billboards around Nigeria, even if it's just for a month, it can take your business to the next level. If that doesn't suit you, use the money to run paid ads on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and the rest of them. Use the money to get customized wears and run publicity campaigns. If you have a business or a skill and you're not earning like you should be, check yourself and calculate the money you consume on data monthly. Reduce the cost by cutting down on unnecessary reels and downloads. Except you're an influencer.
3. Enterprenurial skills: so! What if you don't even have a business or a direction to start with. 😂 Well if you have no direction it's best to find one now. Find out what you have passion,Love or talent for and develop yourself in that area. Wether it's tech or fashion or food etc find a way to be more serious and intentional about perfecting your skills and satisfying needs with them.
.The list goes on and on but I'm sure few people took somethings out of this Post.. If you have any other idea to share about how to earn and break the poverty barrier in Nigeria as a youth please share people need these tips to start getting somethings right. It's very important to find a way as a young person. Because the economic hardship might not be telling on you rn because of your parents or guardians but if you fail to plan, then you'll be setting up to fail.
