I'm surprised that those sending vehicles from abroad could abandoned their vehicles because of exchange rate bla bla. They still have their euro, dollars etc. |

InvertedHammer: I don't think we are serious about defeating poverty. We should continue overyhyping our bushes we call city while having a sense of faux-superiority. The poverty is hitting everyone 😢. No nation in this word will operate the type of economics we operate in Nigeria and excel. How can you even let the oil industry die when it's what we have strong advantages on. Money made from refining our products and cornering the African markets would have been more than the money made selling cheap raw crude. Is it that as a race we lack foresight? Because I'm yet to understand why we can't see beyond our nose. 1 Like |

t2luv1: If they do this, a number of cars at the port would be cleared and government would rake in some good revenue. It's awkward to keep vehicles at the port just wasting away for nothing. This simple process would avoid the current wastage of resources. I want to believe the system is the way it is because of corruption and those benefiting from the current system. 1 Like |

BoldBrainz: thanks for the in-depth enlightenment , the one positive thing about all this is that, it forces people to turn to God, and no dark skin person should ever forget that our situation is the worst on earth. And some will call that a blessing. So that if we are denied the economic survival game , that too is a blessing , for we are left no choice but to play the spiritual survival game. old game is out, new game in town. One thing i do know is that, having great respect for every atom that sustains and creates life , opens doors to worlds hidden in plain sight. Respect the plants and animals , be their janitor , when the humble worm is your your master , the earth water and fire will open up to you. The water and the air is the same person never forget that, liquid or vapor , as such we are still breathing water like the fish. Time to go back to identifying with your elementals , for the smallest things really do run the world , not those living on borrowed time. So help us God |

JASONjnr:The stability or meaningful quality of life Lagosians lived at that time was because of the pd government at the centre these people are fraudsters who didn't do anything meaningful in Lagos but cover up in massive propaganda, you can see that immediately the centre was yielded to them things began to fall apart for them from buhari to Tinubu thesame thing ,it's more than glaring that it was pdp that covered for them in those periods |

UncleKoboko: Saudi , UAE etc don't just produce "crude oil," they refine too. Infact, Saudi Aramco made more profits from its refinery than what we made selling raw crude oil. Saudi doesn't exchange crude oil for refined products and they dominate larger part of the middle east with their products. Now, let's talk about Nigeria. Say we made crude oil sales of $100 in August. That same August we made imports of fuel and diesel with $60, leaving $40 in the coffers to sort other importations. Now, business men, Students, shoppers will have to chase that scarce $40 with their surplus naira so they could make their imports or clear international payments. If Mr. A (A businessman) is willing to pay #900/$, others too will want to meet up so they can meet their $ needs. This here is what leads to devaluation of the currency. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

pafra: Thanks for your swift response. By the way, it is great to see how you would have done things differently. In my own opinion, subsidizing petrol and naira will plunge the economy further. The reality of the past is different from the present. Currently, we are faced with a global economic crisis. The almighty American economy fell from AAA to AA+ this year. The policy of BAT to some extent is great. Floating the naira and subsidy removal are both good ideas. This is where we have issues: 1. Can the naira compete in the open market? The answer is a complete no cos Nigeria is a consuming nation. Nigeria needs citizens with the right attitude to adopt Nigerian-made products reducing reliance on foreign products. Placing an embargo on a foreign product may work but Nigerians will still complain and say no alternative measure was put in place before placing an embargo on some product. 2. Will refineries go a long way in reducing pump prices? Yes, it will and we have one major refinery project going on in the country. I don't buy the idea of the government operating a refinery. Nigerians have a bad attitude towards government work. They will crumble it all in the name of national cake and right. 3. Finally, we need serious, creative, and patriotic youth. We need youth who can innovate. In hard times like this, instead of complaining and wishing the government to fail, we need to contribute our own quota to the community we belong to. On a good day, the average Nigerians is wicked and selfish and that's the true reflection of our government. The people in government were once citizens like us. |

BoldBrainz: I have to quote you on this.. You are very correct. COVID-19 was created specifically to kill Black people or peeps with black dominant genes.. They've been able to map out our genomes courtesy of the numerous aids and vaccines they give to Africa for free.. COVID-19 backfired so badly. It boomeranged on them, killing them in the tens of millions.. I doubt if africa suffered up to 50k deaths. Bill Gates even had a Freudian slip.. commenting on the expected death toll in Africa. They were expecting to see dead bodies in the millions littered across Black Africa . The virus mutated to delta, omicron and kept killing until they were forced to bring out the real vaccine to halt the murder . Now they're back in the lab fine-tuning the virus. God pass them. |

I was in the market yesterday; Tomatoes, Peppers, Vegetables are the cheapest in 5years. Egusi is N200/Cup Ogbono is N700/Cup Beaf, Fish are just fine. Cooking Oil remain the same. UnfairLife7: Can you imagine what sense of entitlement has turn many to. Why can’t you make your point without vulgar words? It shows your education is shit if you can’t reason rationally and make your point without abuses. If you are not please with my contribution, just look away. Using vulgar words in an open platform and a public town square shows you are not civilize yet. And by the way, I have a role to play as an individual to make Nigeria great. Nigeria have both bad leaders and citizens. All you know is how to abuse. Start a humanitarian project in your community. Shares ideas and be a problem solver not an abuser and complainer. Let that sink in. |

Michaelin007:Lol Sense of entitlement to their responsibility? Sense of entitlement with their pockets money? Maybe you think you're talking with a toddler I should start a humanitarian project with which money? Did your government provide jobs for the teeming youths? Did they provide enabling environment? Is your life secure up northern region? Can you confidently go to farm in the northern region without fear of bandits, herdsmen, kidnappers et al? What are the provisions put in place for those youths corpers after service? Why do we continue to have high rate of unemployment and poverty in the country? Can you boast that an average Nigerians can afford 45k+ for a bag of rice? Can an average Nigerians afford descent meal daily? Your leaders shared cups of rice and garri as palliative to few fractions of Nigerians. Does that make sense to you in this age and time? If you failed your citizenship education in high school, then i suggest you go back to it once again My responsibility as a citizen is to obey the law. Government responsibility as leaders representing Nigerians across the federation is to provide adequate security of lives and property, job opportunities, quality education, quality healthcare, eradicate poverty, descent wage, infrastructure et al. Stop being clever by half. You're not more Nigerian than others. 1 Like |

UnfairLife7:Thanks for your submission. I’m a Nigerian youth in my twenties. I secure my first job a month after service. Have change Job three times and currently I work at the comfort of my home. The population of Nigeria keep growing exponentially. People give birth without a clear plan. Currently I’m enjoying being a Nigerian. Have been a law abiding citizen and I can boldly says have never involve in crime or any fraudulent activities. I make my money legally. What help me is simple, I think outside the box, keep improving my self. Everyday I ask myself what can I contribute to Nigeria. What problem can I solve. Nigeria need a lot of problem solver. You don’t need a total enabling environment to thrive. Even with this current situation, a problem solver will thrive. People have problems and they are looking for solution. If everyone can start thinking of solution and stop complaining, Nigeria will be great. It’s only in Nigeria I see people want you to fail all because you share different ideology. The government need our support, if you feel they are doing something wrongly, instead of complaining provide a clear cut solution. In fact suggest solutions. Then we gonna have a community that’s ready to thrive. |

This is an intelligent analysis. Another issue is the federal government does not know the purchasing power of the people these policies are made for. That is the reason they embark on a large scale senseless policy initiatives. We need statistical and analytical database of cost of goods and factors affecting it as well as income and wages. From these database the government can analyse the impact of a certain policy on the citizens. Imagine a government that floats it's currency ( meaning they have no control over it or have handed over the control of the currency to market forces ) to that of a foreign developed country and hope things get better that way. Very soon Nigerians can't go to work or feed because their local currency is depreciating steadily against that of the foreign currency . What a country. t2luv1: |
