Insecurity: CDS, Maidoki, Abdullahi parley on safer Kebbi

As part of efforts to restore lasting peace in Kebbi State, the Senators representing Kebbi South and North, Garba Musa Maidoki and Yahaya Abdullahi respectively held strategic meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Major GENERAL Christopher Gwabin Musa, and major stakeholders.

The parley which was held in CDS’s office, Abuja was aimed at strengthen security measures and apparatus at keeping Kebbi State and other neighbouring States safe from banditry, insurgencies and kidnapping which has been bedevilling the citizens and depriving them means of secure livelihood.

Senator Maidoki who addressed the newsmen after the meeting said security is a top priority in Kebbi South and all over the State, “It was an honour to engage in this productive dialogue with the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Musa. We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our constituents and all residents of Kebbi State.

“This meeting further afforded us opportunities to explored various strategies to enhance security, including increased collaboration between local communities, law enforcement agencies, and the military. We also discussed the importance of intelligence-sharing and community policing to tackle emerging security challenges.

“Kebbi State is our home, and we are dedicated to making it a safer place for everyone. We believe that by working together and staying vigilant, we can achieve our goal of a more secure and peaceful Kebbi State.

“Mutual understanding is required from Kebbi people to enable the Military to play their roles in the State’s peace process.

“We want to thank Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa for his valuable insights and commitment to helping us address security issues in our State. We look forward to continued collaboration and progress in this important endeavour. “Maidoki said.

The Lawmaker called for support and input in the fight against these vices in the State, saying, communities must be on same page with the governments at all time, adding, “the menace of insecurity have adverse effects on the people and the economy of the State. If we continue to fold our arms, we will have to engage a situation beyond our imagination. Our collective input is require at this point to ensure that we achieve our desire of a better and peaceful environments for our families and the State.” he urged.

Responding, the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Musa, described myriad of security challenges in the State as “worrisome”, hence the need for key stakeholders to meet and examine solutions.

He commiserated with the government and people of the Kebbi state over the recent happenings, urged for collective efforts toward entrenching lasting peace and assured of the military continued intervention at ensuring that Kebbi return to a State of equity security wise.
