$100

The store initially lost $100 when the man stole the $100 bill. However, when the man used the stolen $100 bill to buy $70 worth of goods and received $30 in change, the store effectively lost an additional $70 in goods and $30 in cash as change, making it a total of $100 in losses.

$100 theft (the man in question stole)

$100 goods the man bought.
Re: First To Get The Right Answer Gets A Gift. by Zao19: 10:22am On Oct 04, 2023
$100 stolen
$70 worth of goods bought from the same store
$30 change received

70+30=100
I.e $100 was stolen from the store and goods and cash worth $100 was taking away
That mean the store loss 100 dollars

Lol..you're the one who lacks wisdom here.

The question is how much did the store loose, not how much he stole.

The store lost $100 (theft)

And another $100 worth of goods. Making it $200.

I'm sure that even a primary 6 kid would get this simple mathematics.
Re: First To Get The Right Answer Gets A Gift. by Spider20: 10:43am On Oct 04, 2023
$30 is the right answer
This is a pure IQ question which need a good iQ reasoning.
$100 bill was stolen and spent on that shop.
He bought goods of $70
And received a balance of $30 from the store keeper
Now the question is How much money do the store loose
The right answer is $30
This is the type of questions that's very easy to fail

All depends how much the purchased goods was brought by the shop owner, his capital and profit differences will determine the losses..

The registrar have to remove the profit incurred on the purchase goods of 70us, which means it is only the capital of the goods purchased that was lost.... assuming the shop owner brought the goods for 55us, he or she added 10us profit on it coupled with logistics 5us for the goods, that bring the accumulation of 70us. Remove 10us profit from the 70us, the balance will be 55us that is the amount the goods was brought with (capital) and the logistics of 5us which gives you exactly 60us, as a business person you only lost 60us in the transaction then you add the 30us change given to the thieve, in all calculation you will find out you lost only 90us out of 100us.....

But in over all sense, he lost 100dollar..

Let me make this easier for you.

I collect $100 from your pocket without your knowledge.

You've lost $100.

I bring that same $100 to your shop to buy good worth $70. (Remember that the $100 is yours)

You give me goods worth $70... Which means your loss is now $170.

Then you give me a change of $30. Making your loss $200.

Kindly explain to me how your got a loss of $30.

The store lost $100.

The $70 goods bought and $30 balance issued cannot and should not be counted as a loss because the Storekeeper got $100 back. It was merely an exchange. Doing otherwise will be double accounting.

To drive home the point CLEARER....

Assuming before the theft, the Storekeeper had goods worth $70 and cash of $130, total value in goods and cash is then $200.

After the theft, $100 was stolen initially, goods worth $70 was bought and balance of $30 issued to the thief, but remember the thief gave the Storekeeper $100 to make the purchase, so now total worth of goods is $0 and cash at hand is $100. So total money lost is $100 (being the original money stolen).

The man stole $100 from the store register. This means the store's cash reserves are now reduced by $100.

He buys goods Worth $70 and pays with the stolen $100. The store's cash register now has the stolen $100 bill returned to it, and as such, the cash register balances at this point, but the store's inventory is reduced by $70 worth of goods.

The man receives $30 in change. So, the store gives the man $30 back from the $100 bill he used to pay for the goods. This means the store's cash register is now reduced by an additional $30.

So the store looses $70 in store inventory + $30 in cash reserve. So $70 + $30= $100

.

100usd.

Imagine that the thief went away with the 100usd and didn't buy anything, and another customer performed the transactions the thief would have done, would it now mean that the store lost 200e?

OF course not. The transaction made by the thief was a legitimate transaction. The 100 was not fake. So the real loss here is 100

The man stole $100 from the store (that means the store lost $100)...

Him going back to the store to buy something worth $70 and getting back $30 balance is equivalent to him just exchanging a part of that money ($100) for goods ($70) and getting a balance ($30) undecided...

So it's still the same $100 ($70 + $30) undecided...
