It is absurd to think that after all brouhaha and shame Tinubu has brought to this country over the past 24 hours he will make a public resignation speech but unfortunate nothing has been said by the presidency or national assembly. This silence has shown a direct disdain and disrespect to Nigerians who are forced to bear the consequences of this shame that has plagued social media and international media since the news broke over the president's forged documents. Tinubu should bury his head in shame for his cowardly approach to the crisis. Our legislators who claim to represent Nigerians should also bury their heads in shame for failing to speak up or do the needful in an event like this that has international dimension and far reaching global damage to Nigeria's image. It is indeed sad that Nigerians have no one in government to fight for them or represent them in this trying times. In a sane society, Tinubu should've resigned by now and an independent investigation should've been instituted against him and INEC to ascertain the degree of irregularities that occured during the 2023 presidential election.

The deafening silence by the presidency, Tinubu, national assembly, anti-graft agencies and all stake holders should bother Nigerians. What is happening is a clear indication of deep rooted corruption, selfishness and criminality among those we call leaders. It's a shame indeed! Tinubu, where is your conscience?

Because there is due process that must be followed. Its not automatic.
Notethe following

1. Under the constitution, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. So despite what folks may think or say about forged certificates, Mr Tinubu is presumed innocent until found guilty of forgery.

2. To be found guilty of forgery, a person with locust standi must file a suit of forgery at the High Court. Supreme court will not hear a case of forgery that has not passed through the lower courts. Its not enough to make allegations at the supreme court hearings.

3. The high court case must be completed with a guilty verdict before this can be useful anywhere

4. The constitution also says that a siting president is immune from prosecution. i.e how do you file a forgery case against a sitting president. It cant be done. You must wait until he is defeated in 2027 or if he is not defeated he has served his second term before anyone can bring a case of forgery against him.

If a case of forgery is brought against him now , the court will throw it out because he is immune to prosecution be virtue of being a sitting president.

Do not be deceived, the on going supreme court hearings is not the place to bring charges of forgery.

I hope I am right in my analysis. Lawyers pls verify.

The national assembly can do more in an event like this. Since the CSU has released the document and it is public knowledge that the certificate submitted to INEC is fake based on original document published by CSU then there is no way you will say Tinubu is innocent. As we type on Nairaland the whole world is laughing at Nigeria.... there is no time for court hearings as this is not the time for trivialities or unnecessary excuses, our legislators can save this nation from further embarrassment by doing the needful....

Like the presidential election tribunal that base it's judgement on technicalities instead of facts? How is Tinubu still the president after all said and done....? It will be a blatant disregard of the rule of law if supreme court rules in favour of Tinubu on the issue of perjury and falsified documents..... This issue is not about the tribe but Nigeria's international image as a nation..... It is left for the judiciary to decide since national assembly failed to live up to it's responsibility as an independent arm of government....

Oga! Its like you don't know the meaning of the word "technicality " you're just using it when it suits you. It means declaring a judgement based on something other than the number of votes a candidate got in an election . Now based on this, tell us how the PEPT declared judgement based on technicalities? Tell me the number of votes Obi or Atiku got that should have upturned Tinubu's victory. Till this day we don't know what basis Obi or Atiku claim to have won the election other than calling for Tinubu’s disqualification
