@OP. Since the sickness is constant. Has she run thru any test? What's the diagnosis? Is she pregnant?

About 60% breathing difficulties has to do with respiratory system infection.
From cold and flu to acute bronchitis, pneumonia, hemoptysis, asthma, Tuberculosis, COVID e.t.c

Your girlfriend knows something she is not telling you.
Here is my one cent @ OP. Anyone who has difficulty breathing/shortness of breath is very close to the grave as such can easily die from asphyxiation that comes with shortness of breath

Your GF probably has a respiratory infection, you need to watch out for yourself too. If it's something like TB, you might have even contracted the infection and you may be asymptomatic until one morning after 5-10 years when you suddenly start to cough out blood and you can't catch your own breath.

@OP, the best thing you can do for yourself first, and for her is to drag her down to the hospital, and be sure what exactly is wrong with her.
If she didn't wanna go, then there is something she knows that she's not telling you, so therefore, vamoose! That's a red flag

Is she a sickler?
Is this genetic?

I would do my best to find the root of the problem and where possible deal with it ...
