How Christians And Men Of God Should Follow Their Spiritual Fathers And Mentors. by ebubeson: 6:55am On Oct 08, 2023
If God attaches you to a spiritual father or spiritual mentor, these are the ways to follow them.

(1) You must honour and respect God far above them. It is wrong to make an idol of your spiritual father or mentor.

(2) You must follow them in all ways that leads to heaven. You are to follow your spiritual father or mentor, if their ways are leading you to heaven. If it is not, you replace them through prayers and hearing from God.

(3) Do not rebuke your spiritual father or mentor if they go wrong. You are to admonish, preach, warn and inform them wisely of their sins or wrong doings; and if they are persistent in it, you can depart from them upon God's instruction. Allow God to do the rest.

(4) Give to them. If your spiritual father is a genuine man of God, give to him as being led by God. Do not allow them force you or manipulate you to give. Things like them telling you to "clear your bank account" and give, is not acceptable, except God places it in your heart.

(5) Humbly follow them and learn deeply how they succeeded.

(6) Pray for them. They are humans like you and go through challenges of life.

Christians are not to make anyone their spiritual father or mentor besides GOD the FATHER and JESUS CHRIST whom the FATHER had sent.

There is no where in the Bible where JESUS CHRIST ever mentioned you taking anyone else as your spiritual father ot mentor.

In fact, this is what He said:

“And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.”
— Matthew 23:9 (KJV)

And furthermore, on followership, JESUS CHRIST said:

“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
— Matthew 16:24 (KJV)

“And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.”
— Matthew 10:38 (KJV)

“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”
— John 12:26 (KJV)

There is nowhere our LORD JESUS CHRIST ever said you should follow any man and make them your spiritual father or mentor. Rather, He said, "FOLLOW ME".

Please, let's stop all these non-Christian doctrines taught as Christian doctrines.

We are to follow Jesus Christ, but Jesus Christ has empowered people that can mentor and guide them spiritually..

If person ask me who be my spiritual father, omo na Father Abraham I fit talk o. But on a serious note, I don't think I can call anyone a spiritual father, Yes, there are great men of faith, that I read/listen to and these men have greatly influenced my life but I won't call them spiritual father, I'm even certain they wouldn't want to be referred to by anyone as a spiritual father.

How is car and this related?

If you are going to mention "car" here, then you should compare it to horses, camels and donkeys.

I believe JESUS CHRIST was clear enough in Matthew 23:9.
Don't add to His word.

The statement in bold is a lie. Jesus Christ said in scripture that having a father in addition to the one you have in Heaven is a sin - Matthew 23 vs 8 - 10 undecided
